He wasn't brilliantHe was brilliant from open play in both games. The last minute penalty was just the icing on top of a very good performance imo.

He wasn't brilliant
Yeah, he's still a young lad, so it'll happen. He can't be expected to hit his potential in every game yet. But this wasn't really meant as a criticism - hopefully that came across in the Haaland paragraph. It's more the point that Palmer would be half the player he is if he didn't have these quiet periods in some games. This is a really good post to be honest. I only disagreed with this bit. Last season, he played brilliantly vs City both home and away. He was brilliant vs United. He was brilliant vs Arsenal. He was decent to okay-ish vs Tottenham. His only poor games came vs Liverpool. This season he's been a bit quiet in the big games, especially vs City and Liverpool. It can happen, Saka was dead quiet vs us, and he got subbed off at HT vs City, but no-one holds that against him.
Played half injured with a bandage round his knee. Not fully mobile ..Was totally anonymous in the FA Cup semi final.
You had me there till the last sentence. Good one.
Wasn't brilliant for 90 mins at The Etihad last season. Not really it was 4-3 to us and we gifted Chelsea the opportunity. He wasn't brilliant in open play at Stamford Bridge. Same with the 1-1 draw in the corresponding fixture.
Intresting points made. I don't follow European leagues at all so I've learned something there.Yeah, he's still a young lad, so it'll happen. The joke always was with Ozil at Madrid that he'd get two assists before half-time and then get taken off at 60-70 mins by Mourinho because everyone knew he'd be gassed by 85 mins if he had to run as much as Casemiro or Ronaldo, etc. In the three seasons Mourinho spent at Madrid, Ozil played in 103 La Liga games and was subbed off 57 times, lol.
And that's not really a criticism of Ozil - he needed to be subbed off because he worked best in quick bursts over the course of an hour. You wouldn't make Usain Bolt do the whole 400m of a track because he's a specialist - the same way Palmer is. His type of specialty works for Chelsea in ways it wouldn't really work for City, and that's fine.
Can you rely on him other than getting a penalty goal? Hearing this you would think at worst even half his goals are pens. Whereas he has only three pen goals this seasonIt was a perfect storm for Chelsea. Not ground breaking and little signs he would make that much of a breakthrough. The only concern for Chelsea is during the title run and whether you can really rely on him other than getting a Penalty decision. Decent finish with England but little else during the last tournament.
