Steady on, mate.
Superb as Belly was there wete always a few better. Not many but a few.

WHY ??????

bell was the best in the late 60s and early 70s nothing come close the man he was a super human with his box to box runs his power over the others and what a shot he had defo had it all

the thing is like today he played for Manchester city had he played for united or Liverpool the media would be still talking about BELL much like that ticket tout over the road with a comb over or the drunken best or king Keagan or dalglish

bell will never be forgotten by the blues and the club the history books will show it and if the others don't see what we seen they are blind or just daft

Well said, Ancoats.

If Nijinsky played for either the rags or the mourners, he'd still be an automatic choice for all-time England XIs, more than 35 years after his retirement.

As it is we have to put up with so-called experts banging on about captain cripple.

Even if we accept that he was better than those you mention (arguable) the Balon d'Or also puts him ahead of such as Pele, Beckenbauer, Muller and Cruyff who were contemporaries of his.

Blue blinkers off mate and remember him for the star he was rather than making crazy comparisons

Often wonder how colin would rate in the current game , probably one of the players with his athleticism , stamina and ability to read a game who would still be a great player in the modern era. Always thought Bell was the best player ever to pull on a blue shirt , but Merlin had me wavering a bit over the last couple of seasons , at the moment No.8 King Colin just shades it.

"Athleticism, stamina and ability to read a game"? Yes, definitely. So did players like Bryan Robson.

As good as Silva as a footballer? Not even in the same class.

For our younger City followers, Colin Bell would now be ranked in as high regard as any player in the world.

Name a better midfield player ? if he was around today with the media hype, I've never seen a player in Europe as good

Sadly as we all die off that watched and idolised him, he probably will be

An excellent player and city legend but wouldn't have won the ballon d'or even once.

He is still City's best ever player im my eyes, and until I see a player with his skill in every aspect of the game, athleticism, stamina and attitude, my opinion won't change. He is the reason I'm a blue.
Silva is a clever player and good on the eye; Colin was that and so much more.
As good as Cruyff, Pele, and all the others were who you say were Ballon D'Or worthy, none of them were more valuable to a team than King Colin. He could do everything, and he did it in the hardest league, in an unfashionable team, and arguably at the hardest of times.
Duncan Edwards was lauded. He and Bell were cut from the same cloth.
I rest my case.
