Even if we accept that he was better than those you mention (arguable) the Balon d'Or also puts him ahead of such as Pele, Beckenbauer, Muller and Cruyff who were contemporaries of his.

Blue blinkers off mate and remember him for the star he was rather than making crazy comparisons

nope it put's him in with them great players I never said better than pele or the rest you said
the level of a football player bell was he would be ballon d'or winner many times

So you never said the above?

you don't have to be better than to win ballon d'or you have a great season and bell had a couple of great seasons but sadly he was playing for Manchester city and not united or barca

when you hear the other players talking about bell and not just man city players that's all you need know about how good bell was

I keep seeing Bell popping up on the website rewind feature before each match we have. There he is in the right place at the right time doing the right things. He was a Rolls Royce of a player who doesn't and didn't get the plaudits he deserves outside the club. The BBC would rather show a boozy George Best pushing it past some average defenders and hitting it in off the post 20 times a year. The sort of goal you see in Division 2 every week. I was lucky enough to be at his comeback game at Maine Road against Newcastle. It made the hairs on your neck stand up. I've never seen such emotion from a crowd before or since.

Bell's all over social media this morning because today is his 69th birthday.

Here he is after picking up his MBE in 2005:
