Colin Bell RIP - Ian Cheeseman interview with Jon Bell (P142)

The sole reason I became a City fan. Truly the greatest ever.
To meet you and shake your hand is on my bucket listHope you get well soon King.

I had an unusual experience at the Sussex v Gloucestershire T20 at Hove, the evening before City"s game at Brighton, on the opening day of 17-18

Not a word of a lie, one of the Umpire's (David Milns) spotted my City shirt in the Pavilion, and asked in a broad East Midlands accent if I had any spares for the away end.
He then confided that the only reason he'd been a City fan all his life, was his childhood obsession with Colin Bell
Much to the bemusement of the locals, he then walked out for the Second Innings, whilst singing BLUE MOON in my direction
I've since googled and Milns mentions being a City fan in a couple of ICC articles.

I hope he pulls through, my best wishes to him. I modelled my playing style on Colin Bell, wanted to be everything he was, he inspired me to play football. At the time our family could afford a TV, it was the mid-70s and by that time too late to watch him play after the injury. If only I was 10 years older I could have seen him in the flesh, my dad says he was one of the world's best footballers.
