Colin Bell RIP - Ian Cheeseman interview with Jon Bell (P142)

Just watched this on You Tube , what a lovely tribute to the man form his son and Cheesy, Jon was correct when he said his Dad wouldnt of wanted a fuss over his funeral , he was the most unassuming player you could ever wish to meet. One thing is for sure if and when we all return to the Etihad there will a rousing rendition of "We'll drink-a-drink to Colin the King"
Legend doesnt even start to describe the man. Only one No.8

The King of the Kippax is laid to rest.
Better than Cantona, better than Best.
A humble man, hailing from the north east, he could run forever, with the shot of a beast.
Joe Mercer went shopping in the north west, bought him from Bury, you know the rest...
Bell, Lee and Summerbee the holy three, goals they came easy, City top of the tree.
The trophy room filled as the years passed by, but a reckless tackle had us asking, why?
Fast forward to Boxing Day 1977, Colin Bell named as substitute, the Kippax in heaven.
You came out to a reception fit for a king, the whole of Maine Road stood up to sing.
But the knee wasn't right, that half yard was missing.
The glory days gone, left the Kippax wishing...
But we'll remember your shirt number, sky blue No 8.
A footballing genius, forever a great.
Now rest in peace Colin, the game is done, but the Kippax remembers the games you have won.
I'll finish my tribute with a song we all sing...
We'll drink, a drink, a drink, to Colin the King, the King... A brilliant memory of the greatest footballer ever
brilliant

I watched the Cheesy interview with Dr John Bell last night. It was excellent. My favourite bit was the conversation around Gundo wearing the no 8 and suddenly scoring more goals. Loved the comment from Dr John that his kids think Colin has given Gundo 'superpowers'.
Nice to hear that the cub had been 'absolutely fantastic' and of the real love and affection that still exists between the old 60/70's teammates. Just a lovely interview full of love for the great man, great family man and legendary footballer.

Just reading a magazine obituary on the king and Mike Summerbee is quoted as saying “he stood out like a bottle of Dom Perignon champagne in a case of Tizer.”
