Colin Bell RIP - Ian Cheeseman interview with Jon Bell (P142)

This is wretched news, if true. His son's recent posting that Colin had been discharged after a long hospital stay seemed very positive. If he's now had a relapse, then I, like everyone, fervently wish for a swift reversal in fortunes.

Terrible news. From what I know of him from reading on here he's considered arguably your best ever player alongside David silva. Is that correct?

Get well soon, best wishes.

colin the king is definatley one of our best players ever

I'd seen some tweets from his son and he appeared to be doing so much better. Hoping that everything turns out ok. It's hard to describe what a huge part of my childhood he was. Watching him play football was easily the most enjoyable part of my young life.

There are many outstanding Princes that have graced our team, David Silva, Sergio, De Bruyne up there with the very best of em.. There is however and will only ever be one King. Colin Bell..

Who playing today is a lot like him? I seen a couple of YouTube videos before but they're a bad way to look at players, I've never seen him live obviously.

I’m not sure who exactly is like him today. I suppose Lampard was similar especially in terms of goals. Colin scored 1 in 3 over 500 games for City and England. If he was playing today with amount we play then he’d beneath 20 goals every season.....from midfield with no pens or fire kcks.
Good range of passing and good in the air. KDB driving forward with ball over 40 yards is similar.
But I always look back at the number of goals and think WOW

He sounds really great anyway. Sad to hear he isn't well.

He was unique to be honest but I’d say a mixture of Lampard, Gerrard & De Bruyne. He was a box to box player who could tackle, score goals and pass sublimely. He was the fittest player I’ve ever seen and I’m including all modern day players ...!

He sounds like he was great. Was he underrated next to George best cos of the united hype?

He was the complete opposite of Best, he didn’t like any attention and still doesn’t to this day. The King did his talking on the pitch not in pubs or some birds knickers. Don’t think he was ever underrated, even away from Maine Road, he just wasn’t in the news and courting controversy like others did. There have been umpteen players including Best who could be described as flawed geniuses, Colin Bell was a genius without any flaws..

If you are interested, go online and watch him
play, look at his stats, plenty of stuff out there mate ..
