Gutted when he left. Stupid decision by the football guru Reid who spent the next months/years trying to find a decent centre-back who could compete aerially. Curle and Hendry could have been a very tasty partnership but from memory they only played one game together in a 3-2 home win against Palace
 
Lakey came to a supporters club meeting at Old Cock in Middleton probably 1999/2000 season as he was telling us stories from previous season when he was recognised as Burnleys physio in the 6-0 win at Turf Moor, remember someone asking him about Colin Hendry and he said Reidy never got on with him as whenever a City player made a mistake in a game then Hendry would highlight it to the Kippax and as a result he lost respect with some of his team mates.

Why did we all go and watch city back then? Because we are the best supporters, loyal, good natured and we always dreamed it would all turn good and it did!

It could be because I was younger but I enjoyed it more then

Football in general was also better. Not in standard but most games could end either way

Going was more exciting, living on your wits and nerves at times.

I will take my nostalgia specks off and watch KDB now

sometimes it was easier to be middle of the road club back then. the enjoyment is the game of football between two teams. now its players/managers playing for your club to be winners and also because the money. its not good saying it but its the truth world class players/managers are not cheap
