Colin Murray is a BALLBAG

And to me that is sad, hollow, unfulfilling and pointless when there are teams on his door step he already has and can develop a real connection and love with.

And how would you know how anyone from Northen Ireland feels about any team they may support?

You dont! Your entitled to your opinion but IMO your a small minded fool to think that in an age were the number one source of revenue for clubs comes from global TV rights that only people from a certain postcode should support City.

People from all over the world have followed City before you and will follow them after your gone and thats a fact.

"in an age were the number one source of revenue for clubs comes from global TV rights that only people from a certain postcode should support City".

Unless of course you are one of the richest people in the world and can play in empty stadiums each week for all the difference it will make to his bank balance.

Do you think that the Sheikh gives a flying F*ck where people are from?

You've missed my point which for one final time is that I think its a bit sad having to randomly pick (except they only chose the good ones) a team from a list of names rather than supporting a team that actually has some relevance to you by either geography or family.

On that point how many people from NI with absolutely no connection with say Bolton one day decided to become Bolton Wanderers fans. Let me tell you the answer to that one. It's Zero.

Which brings me to the obvious conclusion that all glory hunting people for NI are very sad.

Im not offended as such, i guess im in a weird situation that i see both sides of it. What you are saying suggests that if you are not living in Manchester, you shouldnt follow City (though i accept perhaps what your saying is if youre not from Manchester you shouldnt support City).

I was being facetious trying to prove a point about if i could support a NI team...if im not from here, can i support them? But i live local so surely i can support them....

ergo, I'm a cocker-knee barrah boi who has moved to Manchester...can i support City now?

I just find it strange that City fans dont want more City fans

In fairness, NI football is woeful...thats reason enough to follow the Premiership... ;-)

City fans don't need City fans, certainly not of the glory hunting varierty from NI.

This is no exact science and you can support who you want but if you are not living there or from there then it is (in my view) kind of hollow just to arbitrarily pick a team to follow like Colin Murray has clearly done. Especially if the team is a succesful one (or would have been when little Colin was considering his options).

It would be like me suddenly deciding to be an Inter Milan fan. Where's the connection? There's no connection, no loyalty, no nothing it would be a toatlly hollow, unfulling and therefore ultimately pointless thing to do.

I do take another posters point though about peer pressure and that if you are from a 'footballing' shithole like NI then what are your choices if everyone else in your class is a red dipper or a rag.

It is difficult to say what i would do in a situation like that. Probably tell them all to f*ck off for being glory huntering tw*ts, wear my Donegal Rangers shirt with pride and go through school being very miserable, friendless and no doubt bullied just because of my principles.

Tough call I suppose, but i'm guessing living in a truly f*cked up third world place like NI day to day life is gunna be full of tough calls.

That said I bet there have been plenty (maybe you included) who have been the only City fan in your class at school but did it bother you or make you want to become a ManU fan? Did it f*ck.

Those rag bullies can go and munch on each others arses for all I care. I'm gunna wear by shirt with pride and be proud of where I am from and who I am.

Assuming of course you are a Manc.

i think you should lower your tone, northern ireland is british and assume proud of the fact. calling it a "fucked up third world country" just is not on.

Still don't get why the BBC employed him, he was shit on Channel 5 with the Uefa Cup coverage and hes been shit on MOTD2.

Gave him a warning about it, was just going to post it downstairs :)

Seeing as you see Northern Ireland as a 'thrid world place' clearly you've never been so how would you know who they support or for what reasons? I'm assuming your just a kid but you should really try and speak to some Irish supporter at matches and gather a larger picture than the one your trying to paint.

Oh and dont worry we're not all terrorists!

Wow hahaha, maybe leave the house once in a while fella!

You'll find that English teams have always had the best players from Britain and Ireland playing for them, hence the interest from other home nations. There are plenty on here from Stockport and Stretford, should we tell them to F*ck and support their nearest club, I mean how could the possibly identify with City living in Stockport?

Exactly that.

If you're from Stockport then what's wrong with supporting Stockport? The difference here is that being from Stockport there are bound to Manchester City, or United connections and so it blurs the argument somewhat.

My point is (and lets get this Murray tw*t on that family tree programme on TV to prove he has absolutely f*ck all connection with Liverpool) that Colin Murray one day has CHOSEN (by looking to see who is at the top of the league) to support Liverpool.

In exactly the same way Patrick Keilty, Eammon Holmes and Alan Green have all arbitrarily picked their team.

And to me that is sad, hollow, unfulfilling and pointless when there are teams on his door step he already has and can develop a real connection and love with.

On and one final point did you notice the other thing that Murray, Holmes, Keilty and Green have in common?

That's right they are all Uber Tw*ts of the very highest order. In fact without exception each gives tw*tishness a bad name.

They are all also from NI. Co-incidence????

...And before you all start calling me anti NI or bordeline racist just ask yourself where the c*nts who thought it would be a good idea to bomb our city (a place that has f*ck all to do with their pointless and childish 'struggle') came from.

They can all go to hell for all I care.

Usually it takes hundreds of posts to suss out whether someone is an arsehole or not.

You've done it in under 60 posts. Well done.

Please tell me that you're a rag wind-up merchant... please don't let me believe that you're really a City fan...

-- Mon Sep 20, 2010 6:38 pm --

If you think that Manchester has nothing to do with the Irish then you're a fool.

Part of the Damocles family history stems from the Fenians and the Manchester Martyrs.

Isn't it something like 25% of the population of Manchester have Irish connections?

I actually disagree. I'd leave it intact, as an example of just how stupid some people can be. It seems Red Cafe doesn't have the market cornered after all!
