    I liked him as a character. He would try every snide trick in the book on the pitch which got him a lot of justified hate but Seemed like a decent guy off it. At least he wasn’t just yet another boring face blending in with the majority.

    Take the piss all you like. He was able to manage effectively without an annual £100m transfer budget, without turning over the whole squad he inherited and without requiring four transfer windows before he could be judged.

    He was never “entitled”. He made do with what he had. Nor was he a bland politician or a brooding patrician in interviews.
