Referees moan about diving but they havent helped themselves. The amount of players you see (Sergio being prime example the other week) who get fouled but dont receive the freekick or penalty because they stay on their feet is atrocious.

It basically forces the player into going down
Exactly. It's little wonder players are diving all over the place when senior officials are telling them it's the only way they will get given a decision. Players shouldn't be falling over if not forced to by the foul itself, but then the referees should be applying the laws correctly and rewarding them for staying on their feet by playing advantage and giving freekicks/penalties when necessary.

It's not just the laws of football these pillocks abandon. They need a crash course in the laws of physics (pardon the pun!)

And now Owen is saying he was misquoted and dived, he only fell down when he was fouled.

Well here is the thing, the referee decides what is a foul, not Michael bloody Owen! Dear God, he really should keep his mouth shut.

And then they have the nerve to tell us that if we haven't played the game "at this level" we don't understand the issue.

For example: Owen: "I could have stayed up. It is a very difficult subject to talk about. Especially to people who haven't played the game." @BenSmithBBC 8 hours ago.

Moron.

That's why we can't really have replays regarding penalties or any diving incidents regarding 'contact'

One of the best refs ever has just said a player can go down if he's fouled, even if he can stay on his feet.

So we can cut out outright dives but not soft penalties or players going down easily, all amounts to diving.

As alan Hansen said Robert Pires dive versus Pompey was a foul because of contact, even though Pires orchestrated it himself. If pundits can't figure out cheating then we have no hope
