Colon wall thickening in CT Scan

FWIW..I am a retired GP..recently separated from my wife now living with my parents in Congleton..the stress of the situation made me lose quite some weight..I started to get abdominal pain and noticed a mass in my abdomen..I have a nephew who is a surgeon at Whiston Hospital who got me looked at rapidly by a colleague of his.Their care was immense.
So had an urgent CT scan..showed much the same as yours..thickened bowel, increased vascularity, swollen lymph nodes.Unfortunately the CT showed other stuff but another story.. So urgent colonoscopy. Anyway the procedure was painless and yes they told me their findings immediately..it was diverticulitis and not cancer. They did take biopsies but all fine. If you have colitis, readily treatable.

When I collapsed with the bowel pain and rushed in for keyhole surgery it was eventually diagnosed as diverticulitis. I attended clinics and had tests for 2 years before being told no need for further surgery. I manage it now by getting fitter, drinking more water, less alcohol and changes to my diet.

Thanks for the responses. I gave scheduled a colonoscopy this Friday and this will be my first. Will the doctors tell me immediately after the procedure if they find something sinister?

i did my latest one without any drugs (other health issues meant i couldnt take any) and got to watch the pictures live and talk to the doctor and he talked me through what he saw.

Previously I was sedated and didnt get told anything until the report was sent to the GP

In all honesty, I was sedated..but I can remember every bit..not knocked out..just calm..maybe my liver enzymes were primed ;)..had a rational chat afterwards..maybe I can just take it up the arse.. NOW THAT IS A JOKE..!!!!
