Coming in & going out this summer

The current champions are planning another show of strength in the transfer market, with their chief executive, Ferran Soriano, privately acknowledging that the club made serious errors of judgment last summer when Brian Marwood was in charge of recruitment.

Soriano, who was not at the club at the time, believes Mancini has genuine grievances after they lost out on Robin van Persie to United, as well as other targets including Eden Hazard and Oscar, and ended up with Javi García, Maicon, Jack Rodwell and Scott Sinclair.

The former Barcelona executive expects to sign three or four established players and has spoken behind the scenes about the importance of each of them being an upgrade on players currently in those positions. He has also confirmed there will be a considerable exodus of Mancini's fringe players.

This sounds very promising indeed. Can't wait for the summer window to open already!

Not as though this is surprising news, most fans on here were disappointed at last seasons signings, only one who has made it IMO is Nasty the rest mmmmmmmmmm. Fringe players at City well for starters, we won't be seeing Bridge or RSC they will be gone for good. Sinclair is a fringe player so might be loaned out. Then it all depends on Kolo, Kolorov, Lescott as to whether these are regarded in the same bracket. IMO they are full members of squad but might be released if the right offers come in and the players want to leave. I expect Barry to be given extension on contract. Tevez not sure what will happen with him but suspect he will run his contract down and leave next season. As for Dzeko again he has played a full part in squad but it may be he will make way for new striker. Maicon hasn't ripped up any trees so expect him to go. As for Garcia if Kolo leaves could see him change roles from defensive midfield to centre back.

Retained

Hart
Pants
Wright

Zab
Richards
Kompany
Nasty
Lescott
Kolorov
Kolo

Milner
Barry
Nasri
Silva
Yaya
Rodwell
Garcia

Tevez
Aguero
Dzeko

That is only an 20 man squad therefore scope for 5 new players under prem rules. If any of the english players leave they will have to be replaced like for like. For me if Dzeko leaves we need a new striker, if he doesn't I would think we could get away with not having to bring in a forth striker. Midfield is the weak link if we lose Silva or Yaya we are in big trouble. I believe we need a top class wide player, in the style Bale/Sanchez/Hazard another playmaker in the style Eriksen/ Gotze. Guidetti hopefully has made a full recovery and can claim fourth striker spot. Defence well that depends on whether Kolo or Kolorov leave but I suspect Lescott will stay meaning we will need a right footed centre back, not sure where Dedryk Boyate up to the mark (if he is still with us). If Kolorov leaves we will need a left back. Fingers crossed that this summers transfers

a) Are completed quickly and early allowing them to take part fully in pre season.

b) No pissing about squabbling over transfer fees.

c) Get the juices flowing again.

Can't wait.

Micah's going nowhere IMO, and if he does it'll be abroad.

A new left back to either back-up or compete with Gael. A new centre-mid, a new centre-back, another creative option or two and maybe two strikers.

Along with the obvious departures like Santa Cruz and Bridge, I'd say Garcia, Kolarov, Dzeko, Nasri and Lescott will leave, at a guess.

" We can only win the League if we work well in the summer" said Mancini.

Can't wait for the summer :)

Mancini basically saying and probably already agreed with Txiki, that he wants all the new signings and to be done and dusted before pre-season training camp

-- Sun Apr 14, 2013 5:57 pm --

Could be serious cock in hand time this summer. I'd be amazed if we make the same mistake as summer just gone again.

I really hope this summer will be different and that for once we will get our targets asap rather than haggling over a couple of quid here and there and then losing out and wasting time.

What a fantastic finish to this season if we win the cup and finish second, then we can all look forward to what promises to be a possible big summer transfer if these reports are true and the prospect of getting players in early ready for a full assault on the new season.....
