Likewise.I left school in 77 and didnt see a trophy until after my 50th birthday so the last 15 years are just an additional Brucie bonus to offset previous pain.
Go to a screening in Manchester to get pissed and miss supporting the greatest team in my lifetime.
No thanks.
Nailed it. I'm not going to knock anybody for attending but there seems to be plenty of abuse coming back the other way at those who are taking a stand. As it happens, I wasn't going anyway so for me it's not technically a boycott. If people want to interpret that as me "not being arsed" then they couldn't be any further off beam if they tried. Like every other fan, I have a right to pick and choose my games and I make those plans well in advance. I spent a small fortune doing the FA Cup semi, Final, and the CL Final in the space of 6 weeks and something was always going to give in the early weeks and months of the new season as a result. I couldn't afford to do Burnley away, Sheff Utd away, and the CS and those first two are far more important games - and potentially better days out - than a CS game at Wembley. It's not an excuse. We have boycotted away games at Bolton, Wigan and Birmingham before due to excessive ticket prices and they are hardly a pain to get to. How many Arsenal fans would come up here if the roles were reversed? The FA and PL together with the broadcasters have been taking the piss for too long, this is an ideal game to take a stance but I understand not everyone will feel the same. It's not about not being arsed. Look at some of the games now on TV. Southampton away at Sheffield on a Friday night at 8.00, Ipswich away at Sunderland on a Sunday at 5.00, dippers away at Newcastle at 4.30 on a Sunday, Newcastle away at Brighton at 5.30 on a Saturday, Arse away at Neverton, 5.30 on a Saturday, Brentford away at Newcastle on a Sunday 4.30 and so on. As the late Jock Stein said “Football is for the fans. It can be the greatest game in the world but if there are no people to watch it, it becomes nothing. The fans are the lifeblood of the game.” Fans, not customers, not a number, not someone in an armchair thousand of miles away who happens to be flicking through channels. Empty grounds isn't something the PL wants but the way they are going I can see the bubble bursting in the next decade and fans voting with their feet as they are constantly being messed about.
Can you post a link so those of us who want to seat count can do without having to continuously ask on here?Yeah, they were on sale. Got an error message first but then got in. I'm not going - doing the BOTW screening instead - but just had a nosey at how many were available. Around 20,000 showing but half the top tier blocks aren't on sale so you can probably add another 7000-8000 on top of that
If you're a match day member you won't be able to view availability until you qualify for a ticket yourself. I'll be keeping an eye on it periodically and posting updatesCan you post a link so those of us who want to seat count can do without having to continuously ask on here?
Only a matchday member, but pretty confident that I'll be able to get tickets on Friday (had no problems in the past, even for Leicester last year), but my lad is pestering me as he's never been to Wembley yet, so I'd like to keep track if possible!
At the end of the day mate, its a personal choice. Nobody should be getting grief for making a stand and boycotting the game, or for not going for other reasons.... and nobody should be getting abuse for deciding the boycott isn't for them and they're attendingNailed it. Last season, someone posted a link to the Madrid game early on & it let me in to the seat plan page (just couldn't buy until my window opened), so I hoped it would be the same this year!If you're a match day member you won't be able to view availability until you qualify for a ticket yourself. Ok, gotcha. I wasn't aware of that. It might be possible to do it again but I don't know where that link isLast season, someone posted a link to the Madrid game early on & it let me in to the seat plan page (just couldn't buy until my window opened), so I hoped it would be the same this year!
Thanks for posting though :-)
