Think Charity Shield should be between clubs that won something. Rules out Arsenal obviously. Utd have a big asterisk next to their Littlewoods Cup win so I suggest Conf League winners West Ham or Bolton who won Johnstones Paint Trophy
Do we have to give ours back from 1972?

Serious question. Would this still have sold out for a 530 ko given the slack that would have been taken up by those fans who couldn’t normally get tickets or families wanting to make a weekend of it and taking their kids for their first game (Wembley excitement factor)

Just interested to know

It's a good question. Personally I thought the switch to 4pm was a decent compromise. But at the moment City are the hottest club on the planet. Everyone wants to watch the world's best team. I have never seen so many City shirts in my bit of Lancashire. The last season has totally changed the game for City. The CS tickets are dirt cheap and the kids are on holiday so it might have sold out at 5.30pm anyway. Haaland is a world superstar. Probably the biggest box office player anywhere at the moment as Ronaldo and Messi fade into history. Not saying he is better then them but he is the glocal icon at the moment.

Obviously the answer is nobody knows.

Maybe the extra 90 minutes getting kids home might have been a deal breaker for some. But with it been school holidays, I personally doubt it would have made the difference between going and not going for that many.

It’s not like you couldn’t get home by train from the original kick off time.

With it selling out so quickly, my best guess would be there were still enough in the wings ready to snap up any that might not have been sold if it had still been 5.30.

Is this is going to be like the League Cup final when Villa did that?
Exactly. I'm sure the odd Villa fan might've been in our end but it was hardly a takeover. Same with Liverpool in the semi-final the season before last. I suspect the same has happened here - there was an opportunity for Arsenal fans to buy a membership and get tickets when the criteria dropped from Cityzens and 2 matches attended to all Cityzens matchday members at 1pm last Friday. Even then, I doubt too many would've joined that huge queue online bang on 1pm or before. My guess is that if there are any Arsenal fans in our end, it might be a couple of hundred dotted about and that's it. And if they're that desperate for tickets, I don't see too many of the 2000 or so for this game showing on Live Football Tickets flying out of the door
