Community shield Post match thread

mahrez ,had said to pep he wanted to be included in the squad, which is good imo, but city wouldn't let him because of something he was given whilst away with Algeria that may have got him a drugs ban :)WTF
Sinus medication apparently

Well Fern can get forward and knows where the goal is but him in for Merlin would make us much more solid.

Sad to say but Dave is now more about occasional touches in games like this rather than running the show.

Liverpool's play was mainly just 'knocking it' & Fern/Rodri would kill most of that.

(Gundogan ought to offer similar on 2nd balls but was utterly useless)

Lol, the state of that fucking RAWK, just popped on for a peep on their post match thread.
It starts, as you'd expect, with the bravado and determination levels off the scale, and that they
'Need to make a statement, this isn't a friendly, put down a marker' etc; etc; Then, skip the on going match
commentaries, most of which centre around filthy oil money, and nobody being interested in City, to the final whistle,
and it's 'Only a meaningless friendly' and 'Not bothered, it means fuck all.'
Beating these Dippers again to the PL, which I think we'll do easier than last season, will really piss on scouse
chips, big style.

On yesterday’s evidence we are clearly behind on conditioning.
That ridiculous tour has meant we are well behind on fitness as they were unable to train properly because of the extreme humidity and jet lag. It certainly told in the second half.
For those numpties who question Pep leaving the majority of our starters on for 90 it was deliberately to help get their fitness levels up to where needed.
The management really do need to re-look at preseason schedules...

not only city been to Asia though and think liverpool won it last year, it's promotion and money exercise

There’s probably more to them than that to be honest, hate them I much as anyone but they still managed the 3rd hishest points total in top flight history and won Champions league

We will see mate, personally I think they gave everything last year both physically and mentally, they will always go for Champs League over the PL as they know they can win that fluking it, can't do that in the league, they looked spent every game after they played us, this year Utd will probably be stronger and up their game against them, as well as Spurs, Chelsea etc. We will see by Christmas but I see them being 9 points behind...

Listening to the screams on tv when Atkinson gave those two free kicks against them, or City tackled one of them, I've never, ever heard a set of fans so excited about a pre season game.

When Pep sat Bernie alongside Fern last season it made a big difference so Rodri / Fern ought be be an even better wall. Rodri is a bit less mobile but then he is a big lad.

Not Gundo's best day yesterday.

When they equalised, you would have thought they'd just won the league. Anyhow, it made winning all the more sweet.

Regarding Mahrez and his sinus meds, they have done the right thing 100% I know a lad who plays Rugby professionally and a lot of sinus meds contain ephedrine or a similiar ingredient, he got a ban as they thought he was doping. Can't be too careful!

That`s 5 out of the last 5 domestic trophies won by City and 7 out the last 8. And, so, after the BBC`s love in with Liverpool`s quest for 7 trophies, after one match it is now 6 ! At least they've got the `We Did Very Well and Almost Beat City Cup`.

It`s time Liverpool was floated off into the Irish Sea. They see themselves as Scouse not English; boo the National Anthem; still boo Sterling; complain about everything and so on. Klopp is fully signed up to their twisted and myopic views.

Meanwhile, with our first choice keeper out (though Bravo did well yesterday) our first choice centre back out; our first choice midfielder out; our leading scorer out, and Sterling squandering 2 glorious chances to put the game out of sight before their equaliser, we still won. Happy Days.

Bring on West Ham.

A few going to get nicked for that .No point having a fight if the opostion dont want to know.

I saw those Liverpool fans outside the station chatting to police, they were quite bloody but seemed alright, just a bit shellshocked. They were in there 60s or older ffs, one of them had a walking stick. Literally no need for that, regardless of whether they lipped off.

I saw a few scuffles in and around the stadium to be honest, when I was leaving there was a lad wearing a half and half scarf who was being tended to by paramedics, with quite a lot of blood coming from his nose. From what I could tell, there was a few Liverpool fans in our end giving it the big one, which is stupid to be honest.

I think it's exciting how easily we carved them open in the first half.

They had their best defensive lineup and they really struggled with Raz, Bernardo, Sane (during his brief cameo) and, in particular, the trademark, overlapping runs of KDB.

We'll seriously rack up some goals again if we continue in that vein, whilst hopefully they won't be as tight as a defensive unit in comparison to 18/19.

Robertson and TAA are nowhere near as good as they're made out to be.
