Complaint to BBC regarding Pete the Badge

This little gem from the BBC report on their half year results:
The results come a day after Manchester United and its official timekeeper partner, TAG Heuer, unveiled a pair of club special-edition watches. The first of the watches, the F1, is on sale for £1,300.
The BBC is even advertising on their behalf. I feel another complaint coming on.

Just had a reply about the Pete the Badge picture & caption:
Many thanks for getting in touch with us about our recent social media post.

The picture you refer to was used after it had been filed by a national picture agency, captioned “Bertie”, and was used in good faith and in a congratulatory way to celebrate the fan’s dedication to Manchester City. None of the team on the BBC Sport website were aware of “Bertie” as being a derogatory term to describe City fans – and other City fans also shared the post and mirrored our congratulatory tone.

However, as it was never our intention to cause offence, we have now removed this post for the avoidance of doubt. We are proud of our inclusive and celebratory approach to social media and work hard to ensure we are balanced across the sporting spectrum at all times.

We’re sorry you’ve had cause for concern.

Kind regards

LOL. What a load of fucking bollocks.

Typical scripted response.

Organizations like the BBC will never admit mistakes.

Meetings will have been held behind closed doors, and a conciliatory response will have been cobbeled together, and then filed away.

Dispute closed.

Ask what the picture agency is, complain to them about the picture being captioned bertie (or it will be used with the same caption again in the future by someone), and who knows you might even catch the BBC in a lie.

My response:
Dear Katherine,

Thanks for your quick response but I simply don’t buy it and the reason is you’ve used that picture before with a completely different caption, which said “Can you guess who he’s supporting today?” So my guess is that someone at the BBC put that caption in. Can you tell me the name of picture agency so I can check the story, as I’m writing it up for the Manchester City fanzine?

How do I escalate this?

Regards,

My response:

It is utter bollocks! How many people do anyone know called Bertie anyway? Why use ANY name if they didn't know his real name? Just say ''This loyal City fan has been supporting his team for 50 years, anyone know who he is?''

It is a typical corporate reply, feign fake concern that they caused offence. This part is what I hate about these organisations the most.

'' We are proud of our inclusive and celebratory approach to social media and work hard to ensure we are balanced across the sporting spectrum at all times.''

DO YOU FUCK!!!

Let's start organising the protests as we will get fuck all in the way of a decent heartfelt apology just this bog standard bollocks!

Complained about Stones' Twitter account already, being used for advertising a product and now he's compounded it and added it to a BBC website
