A lot of City fans have become the thing they've hated for a long time, and don't even realise it, as bad as RAGs, and other team fans are hating it..eg: look at the Everton celebrations, because as bad as United fans are, they've always been that way and are expected to be like that with what they've won, but us we just came from no where, bought all these players and now we've a chance to compete at the top and for many teams that streak of arrogance and the attitude off a lot of fans is more painful then listening to the RAGs.
But that's natural I suppose, when winning hits you out of the blue it happens. Now I'm not used to having my teams go from average to top class like this, there's progression and success in underage level and young players come through, that's how it happens, and it's sorta hinted at, for me there it seems a little more true and deserved then just buying the success. But that's the premiership and it's different to the sports here so I'll take it the way it comes it could never come anyway. That is the way of football and money wins you football. It bothers me a bit the way there are double standards, no one gives a crap when Chelsea forks out a whole tone of money, but when it's City, we're ending the world..do we not have a right to challenge??
There are so many things I'd like to see changed about football. But sadly it'll never happen. I agree that they are a world and a half out of touch with everyone else, most of them anyway.
Tevez is an example for me, and as good a football player he is, if I hear him whine one more time about poor old me, Man U didn't think I was worth 25million, no one should have that arrogance, no one, whatever about what he thinks in his head, but coming out and moaning about it over and over again is just filled with arrogance, and I promise you if Dunne left the way Tevez left Man U I wouldn't be sure he'd be warmly welcomed back. But that just sums up for me the attitude of many players these days, and yet he's one who actually works on the field. There are many who don't, and to be fair to Tevez his attitude on the pitch doesn't match the attitude he's shown off it lately. But the way he's talked about Neville. Neville is one of the biggest clowns you'll come across but no matter what Nevile said or did, you never, as a professional football player go to the media to get your opinion which is just name calling and insults back, you don't call another player an idiot and a "bootlicker" in an interview like that, settle your differences on the pitch, but not off it. Not like that, it's not professional, it's not in the blue way anyway, you just don't do that in a professional game and he's asking to be targeted now next game which isn't what we want.
If there was one thing I wish that could be changed was a cap on salaries and i would love to see the names stripped from their jerseys and given numbers 1-11. So it doesn't matter who you are, it's about the team, not the individual..but that wouldn't market well.
And you're right, they're not in touch with the rest of us. Their world, and our world are two different places and when we go to them it's supposed to be not only for our enjoyment, but an escape from everything else. But they're not in the same world anymore. I see rugby players, some of the best in this country, and the world for that matter, out all the time shopping, just around town..etc. and they would talk to every man on the street who'd approach them and ask them questions, they are in touch they are real, and available to the public. Just reallly nice guys.
The Munster players arriving in the airport at 2am in 08 after winning the Heineken Cup, (same thing happened in 2006)

You wouldn't see that here at all, or in any football situation.
That's what it is here, and our hurlers and our gaelic footballers, they are our neighbours, our clubmates, our work colleagues, our friends..etc yet one county/club jersey later in June and they're heroes.
Money and business used to be just a part of football in the Premiership, but now, it's everything and that's sad. I'd rather City get there to the top off their own backs, off players being brought in, young kids, and developing them. But that will never be the way and football will never be like that so to compete with well..anyone.
But I've always felt that with football in general, not just over the last few months like.
Football is the way it is. And the premiership is the way it is and it'll stay like so.
