What tends to get overlooked is that Summer 1975 was also a scorcher, but its played the bridesmaid to 1976. I was a student working temporary in a factory that July and it was hot, hot,hot so I trust that the sun shined on you both that happy day.

Iirc the days are falling this year as one of my younger Blue mates was born on a Wednesday in May 75 and her 50th fell on the same weekday this May just gone.Even sadder is I remember where I was that day!!

Happy anniversary Oakie and Mrs with many more to come. With love from me and mine. We've been married a long time and if you get the right one, like we did and you both obviously did, then youll have had an absolute blast of happiness and enjoyment xxx

My first marriage only lasted 11 months and entirely my fault as I started to see this other woman, who incidentally is now my wife of 50 years. True story mate and many thanks for your kind words.

There are not a lot of couples who make it to their Golden Anniversary.
Myself and my lovely wife are just a few years behind you, 44 years of marriage since April 1981.

A pleasure. Some similarities. I was married. Met a bloke from the town 7 miles away from you. Married said bloke.

I am however still on friendly terms with the ex hubby, we all get on. It totally wasn't his fault, nice fella, but the current Mr 1969FAcupfinal is the keeper!!

Folk who don't know us that well assume we got together after leaving school ( we were flattered at that as we are both a decade older than we look), but little do they know the path and choppy waters we had to navigate to get to our wedding day. If someone is worth it then the pain and hassle endured at the time is worth it. X

Just a quick update on our wonderful day. The wife thought that there would only be me and her celebrating our 50th Anniversary so what a surprise it was for her to see our son and partner, our eldest daughter and her husband with our two brilliant grandkids Noah and Orla, all from Brum, my sister Sue and the biggest surprise was our youngest daughter who had flown in form Bulgaria and is spending the next 11 days with us.
Wonderful meal,with real ale aka Blonde IPA (hic) and now all back at our house chilling out.
