We will probably all know in short order. However, the futility of conjecture about such things, especially by people with little to no knowledge of such matters, proves beyond any shadow of a doubt that we should ALL wait and listen.

Hmmmm, wait and see isn't working too well, and we have heard from every so-called "expert" in the world already, so I'll dip my toe in the water, if you'll pardon the graveyard humor?!

So, they got handed off on the radio, no big deal. Shortly thereafter, they got smoke/fumes/odor in the cockpit, but were quickly overcome sometime after making their turn towards an emergency field. They were so busy trying to get things under control that communication was the last thing on their mind....or the s/f/o was already in the E&E underneath them and their electronics fried. Conversely, the unseen fire could just as easily have burned a hole in the belly of the aircraft and the cabin experienced a decompression that put everyone to sleep forever.

What was the cause of the s/f/o? Li-Ion batteries that went into thermal runaway and could not be stopped. Airplane was a ghost ship within a few minutes (O2 masks only good for 15 mins to get you down to a "breathable" altitude IF they even deployed) and just flew on the last heading until the first engine ran out of gas. Thereafter, the aircraft rolled and tumbled out of the sky into a MASSIVE OCEAN in the middle of the night. Sure, pieces might have been ripped off, but try finding that head of a needle in a haystack!

I can't think of a single reason why the aircraft would turn around and then simply head out over the deserted southern ocean, unless it was turned around for a reason, but then the crew was overcome. If I was going to steal an aircraft full of people, I would raise the cabin altitude (decompress) until everyone went to sleep. Problem is, the other crew member in the cockpit! So, maybe he has to be killed first? But then what? Why consciously fly into the middle of nowhere to die? Don't think so!

Emergency quickly accelerated and turned deadly. MH370 was a ghost ship for several hours until it went down. The end.
