Cook interview in tomorrows times

He certainly says all the right things but let's see if he does all the right things in the summer, after all, anyone can talk themselves up but doing it is a different matter.
Spitting his dummy out after the Kaka saga is still fresh in my mind , he made the club & himself look stupid & showed a distinct lack of class.
Good luck to him though as i think he's learned his lesson & realised football is different to other businesses.

The article just brings me back to the question I had earlier in the season. When Hughes took over (and Cook for that matter) he had no idea that within days they would have an "infinite" budget. They have been in the incredibly fortunate position of being able to throw ££££££ at any and every "bowling ball" (£4m for an office block anyone?). Yet still the product on the pitch is poor, still we make bad decisions (injury prone Bellamy gets shock injury after 6 games), still our ability to deal with injuries is dire and still the excuses keep coming.

I just dont understand why Cook and Hughes can't just keep quiet, get on with the job in an efficient manner, sign some top quality players and deliver an improvement ON THE PITCH. Talk is cheap and these two are the luckiest men alive - perhaps they should remember that.

I can't think of a football chief executive that gives more interviews than this guy. And that's not a positive in my eyes.

how can anybody not be enthused with the developments at the club?
our time as arrived ,please make the most of it this is once in a lifetime
stuff.Enjoy!

I have to call bullshit on this.

We were getting slated by Milan in the press. Personally I was extremely happy to see us call out Milans professionalism and not just take the criticism bending over. But no, how dare little old Manchester City question the great Milan. The fact that people side with Berlusconis version of events astonishes me.

bowling ball syndrome, classic.

comes across well in that article, if he's being less than candid on a couple of issues, i think he's right not to go into details.

interesting format.... long verbatim quotes, very little comment added by (a very senior) journalist.

Yep, my thoughts too. Not even a snide one at the end!

It is the same confidence that led him, seven months into his first football job, to say that AC Milan were “bottlers” and that Kaká, the former World Player of the Year, was missing out when a proposed move to City predictably collapsed last January.

I think this was a cheap shot, but then again the reporter is a scum fan!

I was just about to say I almost stopped reading at that point. It was a cheap shot. There was nothing predictable about the collapse. Kaka was in two minds and to me it was political. Sell him and your political career would be over.

God some of you are depressing! no matter what the guy says he cant win. He comes out and tries to give us some information and you still knock him. How often do we hear fans complaining they feel isolated from the club?

Are you not glad season tickets have been reduced?
Are you not glad we are going to improve the infrastructure of the club?
Are you not glad they reduced uefa cup ticket prices?
Are you not glad they are trying to get class players into the club?

The owners and gary cook could have the attitude of we own and run the club and are incredibly rich so if you dont like tough, but they dont.

Look at the owners and chief exec over at the swamp, their fans get dicked on a regular basis and gill never says fuck all about anything.

Typical city that some always have a negative slant on everything.

We are city and rich now so we want everything and we want it now.

If we won everything possible to win there would still be some dick complaining about the price
of tea or the strength of toilet roll.

And by the way the last six months of last season was relegation form its a fact. He was just stating we werent as strong a team as our final position stated.

And if Milan did bottle it whats wrong with saying it, we have plenty of people knocking us i'm happy for him to stick up for the club.

For a while lets give them all a break eh and see what happens

I like Cook. Not had any reason to think differently.

Ok, he said Milan bottled it. Who was it that came here to meet with him and other city officials?

I doubt Milan chiefs came over for an apology from Cookie?????

Time will tell, but its looking a whole lot better than this time last year.

I wont even mention the year before!!

How many times in the past have we cried out for statements from the club/ board to reassure the fans and only got a wall of silence. This guy is unequivocal and tells it how it is and where it's headed. That included the Milan statement. Great to hear and so much better than what went before. I remain firmly optimistic.

Just this last couple of weeks there has been a few statements from the club, which were needed tbh.

I just wonder if they are gearing up for some major statements very soon.

Yes to all of those, but it doesn't mean that I have to agree with everything Cook says and does.

Thats not the case with the vast majority of people.

maybe if enough people have a go at him when he makes statements trying to clear up issues we have all commented on in recent weeks/months he will just think fuck it and not bother in future.

so i gathered fella

It annoys me how every manager who comes into City says that the training facilities are not Premier League standard and need an overhaul. It happens every time we get a new manager and we're assured it's sorted: strikes me as an early self defence tactic, wonder if this is the same at other clubs?
