Copenhagen Away

I live across the bridge in Malmo. When I go over I normally drink in Vesterbro which is probably the studenty area people talk about but also has the hipster type places like the Mikkeller bar if you like craft beer. The smaller Bodegas are pretty good, cheapish and let you smoke in them (if you like to smoke in bars.) As long as you avoid the tourist traps you shouldn't get too screwed over for a pint. Sweden & Denmark are not Norway's level for the cost of a beer and the Dane's seem to be the most liberal of the Scandi's. I always have a good time when I'm over there so should be a good away trip.
 
Just watch their club bar by the ground.

We were in there last time with a few other Blues but as the numbers of Blues decreased later on I believe some of their wannabe hoolies attacked some Blues still in there.
 
People need to calm down about beer prices. Bar the supermarkets which will sell cheaper beeer, which there are loads of in Copenhagen, there are quite a few bars where drinks are cheaper at different times of the day.; People just need to Google cheap beer prices in Copenhagen and there are quite a few websites that name the bars and where they are in Copenhagen. ;-) (do some homework before you go) Then it’s just a case of writing the names and addresses down and seeing which of the bars are closest to your hotel or where you are prepared to travel to by underground, tram, bus or taxi. The obvious tip, like in any (capital) city, is not to drink in the tourist areas where drinks are normally more expensive.

Do what I do if you’re staying for a few days. Go off the beaten track towards the edges of the city centre and you’ll find loads of local bars and some hidden gems. Make a day or Afternoon of it and you‘ll come across some really pleasant areas where you can sit in a bar or outside a bar in peace and quiet and enjoy a relaxing drink whilst watching the world go by. Much better than the hustle and bustle of the city centre and fighting the tourists and ultras. ;-) Save that for the matchday.

Yes Vesterbo is the area (I couldn't remember the name on my earlier comment). It is great round there. Looking at the map it is not any closer to the stadium than the city centre but I think we got the metro from there up to the Parken Stadium and it didn't take long. Anyway its a great area, a bit like Manchester's Northern Quarter. But in 2009 the bars there were cheap (on a par with the UK). A lot of places sold jugs of Pilsner to share and it was very cheap and so was the food. It is very close to the city-centre tourist hot spots but much cheaper.

Can't argue with any of that. And as you're landing on the Sunday, you can save me a job on the Monday by casing all the best joints out in advance!

Not much in Malmö to be honest , but trip over the bridge and / or through the tunnel is worthwhile . And it's cheaper than Copenhagen
 
I’m travelling to the match alone. Is there anywhere any city fans will be meeting up on the days before and after the match or before kick off ?
