Corinthians Confirm They Have Not Yet Given Up On Signing Manchester City's Carlos Tevez
The Brazilian club have underlined they have not yet dropped out of the race to sign the Argentina international
Corinthians have affirmed they are still in the race to sign Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez.
The Brazilian club revealed on Tuesday that they had lodged a bid in the region of €40 million to sign the striker, who wants to leave City to be closer to his family.
British sources have claimed that such effort was swiftly rejected by City, as it fell short of their €56m valuation of their player, and Lancenet now claim the Premier League club sent an email to Corinthians on Wednesday morning thanking them for their offer but stated they had no interest in it.
However, Corinthians will not lower their heads and have stated they are still locked in talks with City to sign the Argentina international.
"We are still in negotiations, we hope they will look at our proposal with endearment," Corinthians vice-director of football Duilio Alves said.
"They want a bigger fee, we want to pay a smaller fee. That is it. We are talking."
Corinthians have set a deadline of Sunday to wrap up a deal for Tevez, as the Brazilian transfer window closes on 20 July.
