You get ' racists ' in most rural communities although they are not racists in the true sence, just old school......Covered every blade of grass in Cornwall (work). Surprisingly a lot of shitholes there and its full of racists.
But without delving into that its mostly beautiful, on the surface at least.
Tintagel- "home of King arthur" is good for a day trip
St Ives - best of the bunch.."Cornwall or Caribbean"
Looe - is nice, though I know 2 separate people who live there and both are from Essex and both are United fans.

Some of the older folk aren't as forgiving, you dont so much have/need a house name or number but ' whos house it was before you had the audacity to move in '

Cornwall is full as someone posted earlier in the thread, but not with racists. I suppose it depends on who you talk to. The poverty down here though is pretty bad, and it’s highlighted by the vast influx of wealth for 6 months of the year.I was merely suprised at the state at some of the places. Thought they'd be fewer between in the tourism county. Its still one of the best overall I've been too
Obviously full of is an exaggeration but I met copius amounts of people there that openly cited part of the reason they moved there was to get away from diversity.
Any direction on the coastal path from Padstow although going North will need the Rock ferry. Again either direction from Mevagissey.Doesn’t look like my trip to Cadiz & Córdoba will be happening this year , so we’ve decide to go to Cornwall In June ( fingers crossed). We’ve booked 3 nights in Padstow and 3 night in Mevagissey. On route down to Cornwall to are having a day in Bristol . I’m looking for any recommendations for restaurants, walks , pubs , anything . We went to st Agnes for a week last august. 7 hours in the car on a Sunday morning, including an hour stop at Gloucester services ( nice services as far as services go!)Travelled out to different places everyday, fantastic scenery everywhere. Went to pad stow and we also ate in Rick Steins petroc bistro, nice food and atmosphere. Had fish & chips from his seafront restaurant and tbh probably the worst fish, chips & mushy peas I’ve ever had!! But Cornwall is fantastic, we’ll be back this year , COVID permitting!I've worked in Cornwall plenty of times and that dreaded A30 can be an arduous slog in the summer months, especially at bottlenecks where it becomes single carriageway. Some of the locals and tractors don't drive anywhere fast so patience is required. As others have said it's best driving through the night, but only if you're an experienced driver stopping of for a toilet and coffee break or two. Not easy driving on unlit roads at night. I'd be tempted to fly and hire a car there if I went on holiday but for work I had no choice because of all the gear in the van. In light traffic without a break Manchester to Falmouth is possible (legal speeds, light traffic) in about 5 n' half hours so I'd be looking at 6 n' hours with a couple or so breaks.
I liked Falmouth best because I did a 3 day 4G rig on the roof of Trago Mills. Getting paid good money to have Falmouth's lovely scenery around me in nice sunny weather. Bliss.
Went in Rick Stein's there, good food, small portions and expensive. If you want excellent fish and chips go to the chippy next to Trago Mills.
I've forgotten about some of the small towns and villages I've stayed at but as others have said Cornwall (and Devon) are great counties to holiday in set amongst some of the most pleasant countryside in England. But it gets very busy and expensive in the summer months, especially school holidays. Been 4 years since I last visited, must go back but next time purely as a holidaymaker.
I remember going to the zoo there when I was a kid.Looking at Devon for 5 days anyone been to Paignton?

They talked about ‘The Kingdom of Cornwall’ becoming a country in its own right and moaned constantly about their broadband speeds not being fast enough to run their businesses from home.Yeah I can't say I can remember meeting any actual Cornish people who were openly, I want to say purposely racist. They are too busy hating Devoners anyway. Yeah the elderly are savage.
It's people that have moved there that are bad and they are so blasé and open about it.

Some people, with no malice intended, just genuinely don’t like immigration, or even something like an influx of student renters nearby if a university has grown in size. Anything that changes the demographic that someone is used to and liked will always be annoying to some people.
There might be multiple non-personal reasons why they don’t like it. It that doesn’t mean they don’t like the individuals, they just might not like the overall change in culture to their area that they’ve seen.
It might be a bit of an old fashioned way of thinking to most of us, but who are we to tell them their idea of what they want their neighbourhood to be like is wrong?
As long as they don’t make an issue of it, aren’t bell ends about it, aren’t using racist slurs towards them or acting upon their dislike; and if all they’ve done about it is move elsewhere, there’s no harm in that for me.
It’s only the same as me moving to Cornwall if I wanted to live in a quieter part of the country, and the local Cornish people having a problem with me adding to the influx of out of towners. It wouldn’t bother me that they didn’t want me there, in fact, I’d perfectly understand it.
It’s just old fashioned and that sort of thing will eventually disappear after a few more generations.

Yeah, that’s where they do fall into the ‘out of order’ category!I get what you're saying and if I could go back and listen to what some of them said again I'm sure some of them would fall into that category of not liking change ect.
Many though were just straight up Tommy Robinsoners, made apparent by their word choice and views ect. This includes the 2 I worked with from Looe.
They have Plymouth Argyle , the oldies dont like holiday makers , the proper old school cornish are a breed unto themselvesI spent a lot of time working there and I have to say I found a lot of the locals to be very insular. They also didn’t like folk that weren’t from Cornwall and there were a lot of rag shirts about - but this was when they were winning things. They have no professional football teams of their own to follow so they are all armchair fans.
