If she has taken time off to look after her daughter yes family friendly is unpaid but if she felt she had symptoms and booked a test for say weds results back Fri she would then be paid as isolating
Think she can asked to be furloughed though as has child care issues

No because the rates will subside in the summer like last year and that was the scenario being put.

should we release restrictions if hospitalisations haven’t come down enough is a different question
Your argument is based on supposition then as, last year we didn't have these new strains to contend with

Scotland data update:

6 deaths - was 4 last week

848 cases - was 752 last week

9.5% positivity - was 8.1% last week

244 Greater Glasgow, 167 Lanarkshire, 111 Lothian

1958 in hospital (up 17) - was 2016 last week

143 on ventilator icu beds (same) - was 151 last week

A little disappointing as up in nearly all measures today a little.

Dissappointing indeed. Hopefully an anomaly. Off the top of your head, is this the first time in a while that one of the nations have gone up in both cases and % positive for quite some time? Not the best start to the week however hopefully tomorrow will fall more in line with the recent trend.

A friend of ours who lives in South Wales, has received her invitation to attend her GP's practice tomorrow to receive her vaccine. She is 70 and they were doing their groups differently than England as the previous group was 73-75 year olds. Now doing the 70-72 group

Scottish Vaccinations Update:

575, 897 first dose vaccinations - that is just 9628 in the day if my sums are right. Very low.

Nicola Sturgeon says she has asked her teams to find out if there is a way to speed up Sunday numbers which dip each week. But this seems the lowest so far even on a Sunday.

She is getting quite a bit of flack from journalists saying NW England is already vaccinating under 70s. Why are Scotland behind.

Nicola Sturgeon noted that 98% of all care home residents have HAD the vaccine not 'been offered it' which is the words that England used to describe a lower number.

I find that English wording rather odd too as it creates the impression they are trying to hide the fact many may be declining.

As she argued - being offered it is not much use as a figure. Only actually having it matters!

She adds that aside from the 98% care home residents who have had the vaccine 88% of staff now have too.

And 80% of all over 80s living in the community have too.
