I want balance, and the last few days it’s been in short supply, as Van Tam intimated this evening.Hopefully we’ll see better reporting tomorrow.
Not just on the news either it’s important the public confidence in the vaccine program is maintained, wherever, there is public influence, Jeremy Vine on radio 2 has a lot of influence, especially on the older generations.
spot on, if JVT has noticed it perhaps the doomoungering media may buck their ideas up. They are pathetic.

good on him - will watch later. I have not seen much for two days as been busy but it scares the shit out of people. My dad rang me an hour ago totally depressed. “Oh we have a new variant, out vaccine doesn’t work, City won’t be back for years” - press are vermin in my opinion. Been a disgrace throughout all this. An utter disgrace. Would not wipe my arse on the Daily Mail.
Some of us on here have been saying this for weeks. Now perhaps JVT has called it perhaps these click bait media doomsayers will sort their act out and start reporting things in a balanced way for a change.

According to Tom Newton Dunn new covid variant identified in area of Southern Manchester.
Surge testing to take place in certain postcodes.
Not sure who he is, but ask him to look at the GM scoreboard above and if this is a variant that stops people testing positive as all the southern parts of GM and Manchester itself have tumbled in numbers lately.

So it does not look to be one going in the opposite direction.

You have wildly inflated the flu deaths
You are quite right from the stats..however..there is no simple test for flu in the GP surgery,it is a clinical diagnosis and a tough one to make..people with respiratory conditions are now routinely tested for Covid which makes a much more accurate picture..say someone developed a respiratory problem in a nursing home pre-covid and died, it would not be unreasonable to say they died from bronchopneumonia, the common GP no.1, on a death certificate..I guess the point I am trying to make is that flu deaths are probably under-recorded..dont ask me by how much !!

Those new variant postcodes include Maine Road. So await - Manchester City to blame for Covid outbreak in ground they last played in 18 years ago.

Seems they are looking in Rusholme, Withington areas.

If you live in one of these postcode areas - M14 4, M14 7, M15 5, M15 6, M16 7 and M16 8. Apparently the new variant is after you and mass testing is coming.

Are there not new variants every other day? Is the UK trying to get a needless reputation for all the world's ills.

Where did you see they are looking in rusholme/Withington? The areas Ive seen only really include hulme/mosside/fallowfield way.

Had the same convo with my mum last night, she had the AZ/Oxford, I've just told her not to listen to the scaremongering, it's fine, she has the DM every day sadly, and I doubt she will have listened to Van Tam tonight either.

my dad reads the mail and can’t see beyond the headlines. It is genuinely impacting his mind.
