Whilst the news is very positive, it's not "virtually over", not until the majority of adults are vaccinated twice, and we're still a long way from that point.

all about opinions. I will maintain it’s virtually over in this country in that the number dieing or getting seriously ill from it from is becoming negligible very soon.

Of the 501 new cases in Scotland today, only 14 of those are people aged 65+, with an incredibly low figure of 3 (THREE) in the 85+ bracket.

The only other stat I can discern as possibly being notable is that the 0-14 cases (85), are higher than the 15-24 (76). Remember young primary school aged kids and nursery children have been back for 2 weeks. No conclusions here, only numbers.

Dutch extend curfew to end of the month, but Government under increasing pressure to relax certain restrictions; cafe owners keen to use their terraces and sex workers keen to reopen...

23 million jabs, just over 60 deaths yet 3 months off normality
Sorry I dont get it.
Because cases are about to rise and we need to monitor it very carefully to check efficacy of one jab vaccines ( at the moment) in a real life situation involving lots of cases and to ensure no variants sneak in or if they do check that vaccines remain effective.
Also confirm that the vaccine does not find a 'bolt hole' into those not vaccinated where it might mutate.
In other words cautious one step at a time approach as we enter an unknown situation.

I get it sort of but just seems perverse when most of the vulnerable have been jabbed that we are still under house arrest.

Absurd that it's taking longer to unlock than in spring 2020, now we have 23m vaccinated.

It isn't like this lockdown comes for free.
