719 England hospital admissions on Sunday v 651 the previous Sunday.

5437 patients in hospital UP 8 on yesterday V 5096 last Tuesday - which was down 2 on the day before.

825 on ventilators - up 9 on day and 43 week to week

NW stays on 114 but has a few more patients admitted than last week on Sunday to Sunday.

NW patients on 849 - up 14 on the day. London and Midlands both fall to 1074 (by 12) and 1052 (by 11). NE & Yorkshire up by jut 2 to 1090.

NW week to week is down just 15. Heading to start climbing again it seems

So the other three regions all have more patients in hospital than NW. But the NW had the worst day today.

NW Ventilators thoigh stay at 114 - below the other 3 regions and down 4 week to week

ZOE APP NORTH WEST DATA

GREATER MANCHESTER

BOLTON INCHES UP TO 6698 FROM 6515 - but as in real case data now the best in GM again

BURY JUMPS UP TO 18 576 FROM 12 791 - not promising here

MANCHESTER INCHES UP TO 7332 FROM 6860 - still one of the lowest scores here in a long time

OLDHAM UP MASSIVELY TO 32, 098 FROM 21, 260 - been going up steadily and now after this rise not just the highest in GM but the highest in GM for weeks AND the most in the North West too

ROCHDALE as neighbour EDGING UP ALSO TO 14 171 FROM 12 592 - these two look to be heading towards higher numbers for G soon.

SALFORD stable and falls a little TO 7751 FROM 7932 - going the right way but no longer the best. Bolton and Manchester are ahead of it.

STOCKPORT UP slightly TO 8699 FROM 8303 - stable but at a modestly high number though not a very high one here.

TAMESIDE FALLS slightly to 15 305 FROM 16 023- no longer highest in GM as Oldham and Bury above. But still high.

TRAFFORD INCHES DOWN TO 8793 FROM 8872 - back to falling and it has been doing better lately in real data

WIGAN DOWN A LOT TO 8895 FROM 12 690 - good to see a positive fall here too

Others:

CHESHIRE EAST - often tracks neighbour Stockport and falls to be close to it again TO 8464 FROM 10 370

LIVERPOOL - DOWN Slightly TO 11 580 FROM 11 778 - much higher than Manchester which it was matching

WIRRAL - UP slightly to 5749 FROM 5694 but very flat here.

FYLDE & WYRE (The Blackpool holiday coast)

UP today a little TO 11 937 FROM 11 184 - Nowhere near the 25K it was up too in the sunshine. But still high as are the areas around Preston.
Tameside falls to 15305? Liverpool 11580 WTF

Cases 26, 652 - down 1776 on yesterday and up 3112 on last week

All settings deaths - new high of 170 v 146 last week

As I have mentioned a few times over the past year Zoe is notoriously bad with predicting Tameside numbers right. It stopped reporting them for that reason at one point trying to find out why.

It has been a lot worse than that. And is not the worst in GM. Bury and Oldham are both ahead of it.

Remember these are population based numbers not unlike the Pop Scores I post. Not literal cases

Cases rising means nothing if people are protected from getting seriously ill via vaccines.

How the hell are some people still not getting this????

That wasn't my point

Australia/NZ are locking down cities over 1 single case

when restrictions are lifted, and even if everyone vaccinated - cases could go in the hundreds/thousands out there - despite the protection from the vaccine a few will be hospitalized and so on that basis... they will forever be in lockdown.

I suspect that once everyone has had the opportunity of being vaccinated, which will be by the end of the year roughly, they will lift restrictions, open their borders and live with low levels of Covid like everyone else. There's no other choice really, however they will have got away with not having 10,000 people dying of it had they followed our lead from the start and instead kept it to 26.

With close on 80% of the population having been double vaccinated It would seem that cases, hospital numbers and deaths have now plateaued the past 3 or 4 weeks and I'm guessing that this is the way its going to be until this virus mutates its way out and or we the human race become immune to it completely.

after hearing all the farce around Porto, has anyone got any recommendations on good providers for DIY antigen tests to use whilst abroad for your "return to the UK" test and a good day 2 PCR test provider? Don't want to be messed around by a charlatan provider like the poor sods for Porto.

Didnt do a DIY but I went to a local pharmacy over there they just did it for me 20euros and had results half an hour later. Other people have recommended Qured for the DIY ones you have to do it on a video link with a doctor though

Just get the 'return to UK' test locally over there (wherever you are going).
I'd only take one with me if I was going off grid or well off the beaten track.

For the day 2 PCR to take once home, they all have pretty shoddy reviews.
Randox, Eurofins, RT Diagnostics will all do a postal one.
Places like Boots you can book in for and pay a bit more.

Personally, you're already home so I'd just buy the cheapest.

I was thinking to take one just in case, always good to be prepared.

Be crazy if we don't.
Kind of depends if it is ethical.
I would think Long Covid numbers would have to be as high as the rest of the population for that to happen. Deaths are low - compared with 30-40 year olds so on that score it wouldn't be ethical.

I see Sturgeon wants to make it's Covid Powers permanent. Hardly surprising as it gets her on TV every day.

I thought life was largely back till normal and most of us were living with, though never eliminating, reduced Covid risk.

But I visited my Mum (she's 81) yesterday and she was in a real state because Dad had let a stranger into the house for an emergency wee. She'd spent the rest of the day disinfecting the toilet and the door handles. 2 years ago the house, the most prominent one in the Fen village, would always have folk popping in for a cuppa and a chat.

A lot of older folk are still terrified to leave the house, particularly with the scare stories in the media.
