I thought the Daily Mail man asked the right questions (what is needed to hit the 13 million), but was probably after more specifics than the broad featureless response.

If they get anywhere near the 13 million, the acceleration will have to be impressive. That's 2 million/week starting from now, and that makes the vial filling/QA the limiting step. It's 300/day per site on a 7-day basis.

I would not be surprised to see a comment from the NHS heads about the announcement about committing to it - that didn't seem to be the position yesterday, so expect either confirmation or clarification. Maybe 'committing to' is actually 'hope to' rather than 'guarantee', but that's not what is going to be understood by some who hear it.

No questions about teachers being promoted up the order yet, when it was JCVI recommendation?
Boris said the rate limiting factor was the regulatory clearance of vaccine batches.

The NHS can’t really change or “clarify” the PM’s committee to the.Country. That said, If the commitment wasn’t achieved because of delays in clearing batches, people would have to accept that.

Preventing radicalisation??

You just know a committee of several dozen non front line health care people have come up with that list, over a period of mths. IE managers. It would be funny if it wernt so pathetic lol

I work in the industry, not in the NHS but for a local authority. Every single on of those courses re there for a reason. Not the reason you think and its not usually something that mangers want as it makes it harder to find and train staff... But whilst people still sue the NHS daily, all those courses are to say that the person has done an awareness day thus they are less likely to have a no win no fee nob ed trying to make money on nonsense claims. Literally half of my job is about not getting a legal case brought against you. Thats the real issue.

how are you suposed to radicalise soneone in the time it takes to give a vaccination. Its a ludicrous idea surely. lol
People are radicalised over weeks, months or years. Try telling the families of the victims of radicalisation if you think it’s a non issue. Maybe it would make zero difference to the vaccination programme, that will run for months, but half an hour of e-learning isn’t going to slow down the distribution of vaccines.

They also reduce the insurance premiums NHS Trusts have to pay out to be part of the NHS Litigation Scheme, that links to your point.

Very clear statement from Whitty that the single dose/long gap is to hit as many as possible as fast as possible - a balance of risk to life vs overall good of the country. That seems reasonable to me, but obviously there are crossed fingers involved.
Belief is that the risk of a mutant breaking out is small, and JCVI (and others) back the decision.

For the next 3-4 months, the vaccine doses available is the constraining figure.
Medicine is all about risk v benefit , i am with him that they take the chance on vaccines, however the WHO have just said they want a second dose in 3-4 weeks , it didnt go too well when we did the opposite of what they said before

Did I hear correct that Whitty said we will have to have Lockdowns next winter also ?

Much better press conference as regards clarity of information especially the vaccine roll out plan, problems involved and commitment to a date AND regular updates on progress.

Len - lie down.
