These journalists are absolutely useless. All they are trying to do is get someone to say something so that in four weeks time they can say ' but a few weeks ago you said....'. Ask some proper questions you muppets. I wonder if Boris is as pissed off with the stupid questions as Pep his with the ones he gets asked in his pressers
A "Gotcha" question for the Prime Minister, a question that's already been asked and answered for "the scientists". The media questions remain a pointless exercise which only remind me why I stopped paying the BBC licence fee and buying newspapers.

Boris said the rate limiting factor was the regulatory clearance of vaccine batches.

The NHS can’t really change or “clarify” the PM’s committee to the.Country. That said, If the commitment wasn’t achieved because of delays in clearing batches, people would have to accept that.
the QA part of my comment was what I was meaning, and equates to the regulatory clearance (that was my intent, anyway), so I agree.

No, the NHS can't change it, but it implied strongly that the NHS were party to the agreement, and not dictated to - that's what I'm intrigued by.

And yes, I have no issues with a near-miss, and I think it would be quite reasonable.

Look, if you love the vaccine target... if you think he's delivering miracles, then show your respect by being obsessive about what you can do to help stop spreading. That's our job. Don't lose focus on your end. Nothing we can do about vaccine delivery, and it won't be enough anyway, unless people give it their absolute best effort.

Did I hear correct that Whitty said we will have to have Lockdowns next winter also ?
Might have some measures like social distancing and masks is what i read into that , we should be way past lockdown territory , we dont know if we need a yearly vaccine programme , i expect so as he says that it wont go away , unknown yet

(Mod note : other comment deleted, no need.)

erm, im not sure repeating this fiasco next winter will go down so well. Surely the extra health burden wont be anywhere near big enough to justify it??

how are you suposed to radicalise soneone in the time it takes to give a vaccination. Its a ludicrous idea surely. lol
Because I doubt before this anybody was employed just to vaccinate people. This has probably been copied over from a job that involves other responsobilities. Its one of the wrinkles that the the rush to recruit has left in. Will most likely be sorted out quickly.

I think the NHS Leadership issues are interesting and the NHS leadership will be held accountable if there are big failings in the vaccine roll out. Dido Harding would have replaced Sir Simon Stephens as Chief Exec of NHS England by now but for the disasterclass on track and trace. He seems to have been sidelined recently but it probably makes sense for the Chief Medics and Scientists to flank Boris at the moment with the key focus being the vaccine.

Medicine is all about risk v benefit , i am with him that they take the chance on vaccines, however the WHO have just said they want a second dose in 3-4 weeks , it didnt go too well when we did the opposite of what they said before

Yes, it's definitely a risk.

It seems to come down to whether you trust the govt scientists. At the moment, it's an educated guess - the plan taken means more get vaccinated at a particular point (e.g. Easter). The unknown factor is whether something nasty crops up which renders a vaccine ineffective.

This is a new virus , it has not been here long enough for accurate predictions , whitty said it will go down to an acceptable risk to the population but as with all respiratory / winter viruses it will come back after the summer and the nhs creaks with flu so with on top ... But best to think positive for no w
