I think people are reading too much into Boris's comment. Lockdowns ARE the reason that cases/deaths reduced.

Vaccines will be the reason we can continue out of lockdown without another significant wave.

There is no way that vaccines alone will have reduced this last wave the way a lockdown did. Acknowledging that isn't suggesting another lockdown,

Of course what you say is true but I think you're missing the point.
A lot of people believed the previous messaging ( often stated directly but mainly done by implication) that the vaccine was totally responsible for reduction in cases,infections, deaths.
Now they're being disabused of that false notion and are confused.

3 deaths - was 5 last week

278 cases - was 289 last week

1.3% positivity - was 1.5% last week

119 patients - down 14 on yesterday - was 192 last week

20 ventilated - same as yesterday - was 21 last week.

97 cases - was 88 last week

4.8% positivity - was 7.0% last week

7 day rolling cases total 780 - was 774 yesterday & 561 last week

4 Care Home outbreaks - down from 5 - 6 last week

70 patients - down 7 in day - was 97 last week

5 ventilated - same as yesterday - was 10 last week


More good data here and as in Wales and Scotland patients still tumbling.

And - hoorah - after a long stall the care home number falls as low as 4!

Mordena is mRNA based, AZ and J&J are DNA based (if I understand correctly)

AZ and J&J are viral vectors - they use a harmless virus to deliver RNA into your cells.

Moderna (and Pfizer) use naked RNA delivered in a fatty envelope which directly delivers into your cells without a need for a virus to do it.

Neither use DNA.

I worked on the ships with a guy from there and he was not only odd but he could bore a glass eye to sleep.

He was going home once and was in the underground station at rush hour. After standing there for a while and letting a number of trains come and go security approached him to question what he was up to. He answered nothing, he was waiting for a train. They said, " Mate we've watched you let about 20 trains come and go and you've made no move to catch any of them, why?"

Now he spoke really slowly in this broad Welsh accent, wore big thick glasses and looked like a young fucked up Freddie Garrity . He replied, "I'm from a little village in the Welsh Valleys called Merthyr Tydfil, I'm not used to crowd's so I'm waiting for a quiet one before I get on."

They said incredulously, " You do know it's the rush hour, you'll be here for quite a while?"

He nodded and said," I'm in no rush, I'll wait "

They left him to it lol.
