Phew: After yesterday's jump up.

England hospital deaths 26 with 5 from the North West

Happily well down from 42 and 8 last week.

That was up wk to wk (from 31) just as yesterday's was.

The weekend catch up always sees Wednesday as a high point. And that was impacted last week by the Easter Monday lag.

So 26 - sad as it is there are even that many - is really good to see on such a 'high' day.

AZ and J&J are viral vectors - they use a harmless virus to deliver RNA into your cells.

Moderna (and Pfizer) use naked RNA delivered in a fatty envelope which directly delivers into your cells without a need for a virus to do it.

Neither use DNA.

Thanks. Glad I qualified it :)

It all depends on definitions. The viral vectors contain DNA which encodes the spike protein.

More on the 26 England hospital deaths:

Regions:- East 2, London 1. Midlands 7, NE & Yorkshire 7, North West 5. South East 2 and South West 2

Most in any trust 3 in Bradford and 3 in Pennine Acute. Manchester and St Helens with 1 each the others bar Pennine Acute in NW.

On the other hand, cases in France seem to have peaked, and France is almost certain to be testing more and finding a higher proportion of cases.

India, on the other hand, is currently experiencing exponential growth with a doubling time of just 10 days or so.
Only because they have locked down again. It will take 3 months to reduce the new case rate with lockdown and vaccination.

Went to see my mum today, for the first time in over 12 months, at her care home. We (me and my partner) didn't have to take a Covid test but could only see her in a "pod." If we want to visit her in her room then we have to take a Covid test 72 hours before the visit, but I only found that out yesterday. The pod wasn't ideal (closed room with a glass screen between her and us) but it was better than nothing. Felt like we were visiting her in prison though lol.
I want to take her to Albert Park across the road from the home this summer, get her out walking and seeing nature close up and experiencing sunshine again. No idea if that will be possible though, just have to wait and see.

Glad you could go, that must have been emotional after so long. The glass partition sounds heartbreaking though. Went to see my mum this week for first time since last summer, but that was in her back garden, so not too bad, though a bit chilly for her.

It was a little odd, yes. Glad you got to see your own mum this week.
