Looking at the international picture, Ireland is going to be in a very bad state in 2 weeks time.
Sadly, both France and Spain are now very definitely on the case escalator they look to be a month behind the UK.

Germany too. One of my German colleagues who lives in Dresden is totally locked down and cases are soaring in his region (Saxony). His wife is a nurse and she had Covid in December.

My boss said work from home if you want and if you use public transport advised working from home totally. I've not been in the office since march.

he did open the office in a covid safe way over the summer / autum but has closed it again now.

One of my clients ( a major telecoms company ) has actually shut down one of there offices that usually had 1000 or so people in it prefering people to work from home from now on.

and it’s all our fault for creating the mutant strain....

Employer has finally put out a work from home rota but it's voluntary.
Lots of martyrs (cnuts) have said they will continue to work full time in the office, they could all work from home but think it'll be held against them, knowing the boss as i do & his " it's only flu" comments, it will be held against them.
Fcuking company, this shouldn't be voluntary

That is ridiculous and to implement a rota is insulting.

Very poor management who have trust issues. Most places who have applied WFH policies have probably seen an increase in productivity.

Regarding employers how good has yours been through this pandemic ? We had one 5 minute chat in march nothing since.
The management have been working from home , so havent seen us since march 2020.
We haven't heard or had an update since the first 5 minute chat in march .
This is piss poor so we have all now joined the union.
We have just carried on working around the public areas etc. The only guidance we have had is from the government general guidelines
My boss has been awesome, he‘s a top geezer and completes understands. Hasn’t an issue about us working from home and as long as we get what’s needed done it doesn’t matter if we only work 1 hour a day.

Have we passed 1.5 million vaccinations yet???

I would certainly hope so. Boris will tell us in his briefing this evening. I'm looking forward to getting the figures daily from Monday. I doubt we'll hit the mid February target for all the most vulnerable having at least one shot but it will be soon after. The main thing for me is that we see numbers increasing strongly week by week.

If, as I posted last night, the Johnson & Johnson single shot vaccine is approved early next month then that too is a game changer. It is similar to Oxford and we have 30 million doses on order with an option for 22 million more. The government is expecting to receive doses before the end of Feb and I'd expect this one to go to younger, less at risk groups.

You joke but just put yourself in other peoples shoes. you seem to be freely blaming China for it so why such a big step for other countries blaming us for the new strain? wont take much from other countries press to create a backlash for us not controlling it.

Or other governments looking to deflect from there own handling of things.

Same way our press were already going at Denmark for the Mink stain being possibly resistant to the vaccine ( thankfully it wasn't ),

Echoing others comments that it doesn’t seem much of any quieter on roads and out and about. Seems like Tier 4 with schools closed but then far more kids actually in school than before.

I’d be surprised if we see anything like the drop in cases that we did last year.
