696 care home outbreaks this week still in England.

The N Ireland numbers over Christmas have risen too - nearly doubled since the week before Christmas and at 133 is at the highest since I have been tracking it.

THESE are where the big rises in cases leading to deaths seem to be occurring and why we will likely be at or above 1000 deaths again today.

Until these outbreaks are reduced as they were before Christmas we will have major losses.

I am wondering how many people met their older relatives over Christmas when restrictions were lowered and those are now reaping the whirlwind.

We just did nowhere near enough to target messaging about risk to the different generations.

I have been saying in here for months about the need to do target age messaging on TV via generational icons.

We have been utterly dreadful at this and it is a huge reason why we are struggling.

Confused, constantly changing messaging over rules that might differ if you walk from one side of the street to the other and dashed off with politico buzz words has left confusion - no real awareness from generation to generation what is different about the things they need to do and why.

It is so terribly handled that people long since gave up trying to fathom it out and just do what they think is right for their lives.

Countries with a unified system - not a 4 nation often different if you go to the nearest border town to shop strategy - have fared far better.

Clarity is your number one weapon and a belief everyone is in it together and sharing in the fight is number 2.

Both of these in England especially have been so bad many people just think they are being spoon fed propaganda even if they actually are not.

Messaging was our most important test and we are currently well on target for an F.

Popped into my workplace office block at lunchtime to get stuff to work from home and pick up post.

First lockdown it was empty.

Today, as busy as it is on any normal day, full of people mingling in communal areas.

Also noticed the roads are no different than any other time.

This will go on longer than March as no one appears to be listening to the current restrictions.

My Grandads care home has had a big Covid outbreak, they've been brilliant all through this pandemic so it's upsetting this has happened.

I said the same yesterday. Streets were busy with people when I got off the bus after work. Work was busier than last year too. In the first lockdown when I had to go into work, there were the odd people in, yesterday about a third of all staff were in.
