I'm not suggesting 100% any theory mate, I'm just suggesting that something else may be happening, may be wrong, may be right.
We were told a few months ago get 2 jabs and freedom would come back ,now the narrative is being spun - AGAIN to oh well you may need a 3rd OR 4th jab. Boris said a few weeks ago no more lockdowns ever, today is again advocating / suggesting more winter lockdowns. They are fucking liars, plain and simple liars, Boris, Hancock, Gove.

We should have been opening up today and had complete freedom, ok we wait 4 weeks, the tone should be upbeat and positive from them, stop publishing figures, stop listening to SAGE. Get the country back and running yet again it's all negative from them despite the brilliant vaccine roll out. If we can't press the button now to all the months of shit we've had then when the fuck can we?
I don't get it.
You're not interested in getting it.

The symptoms are more minor because mostly under 30s are catching it now. Look at the N Ireland data a couple of pages back.

That age group reacts differently and less severely but need to know what to take seriously.

Because this variant is far more easily spread and is being caught by those out there mixing and spreading it a lot

So of course they need to know what to look out for. Because they are the ones not likely to die from it (though look too at the rising percentage of younger people who ARE - a teenager died from it in England this weekend). But they can seed it amongst their family who might be more vulnerable.

But if we stop that spread we get to open up. If we do not stop it then that will be why it gets delayed again and we will not.

Were fucked mate, it's never going to end .Think lots of people are now drawing that conclusion.
Life pre covid is never returning sadly, I think intermittent lockdowns and draconian controls will become normality for the world forever. More variants and other shit will appear. People won't be able to travel, go to sports games, concerts etc.
The slightest hint of new variants and the govt will go in panic mode. Is something else happening now beyond Covid is the big question?
It won't end as in the virus will always be around like flu, but lockdowns will never happen again once we get jabbed or herd immunity is solved. Foreign travel is the trickiest part of all this imo.

Jesus. I’m no fan of Boris (quite the understatement) but he absolutely wasn’t advocating or suggesting winter lockdowns to deal with Covid as it stands .
He said when asked for some reason "You can never exclude that there will be some new disease, some new horror that we simply haven't budgeted for or accounted for"

Additionally the third or fourth booster IS our continued way out of this so we learn to live with it with updated boosters every year to deal with variants in EXACTLY the same way we deal with flu.

for 1 person its minor, for the next person they give it too it could be bad/hospitalisation/fatal, as it has always been with the range of symptoms we have had from day one with Covid. a lot less in terms of fatal now due to vaccines but the risks are there none the less.

The problem here is that it's going to be like that forever.

What might give me no symptoms at all might kill you. That will not ever change, and zero-covid is a pipedream. Many peopl much smarter than I have said as much, and have said we're going to have to live with it.

What do you suggest we do?

chatting to some economic types a few months back ( im not going to pretend I understood all this so I could be off here in my explanation ).

All the money the Government borrowed for Furlough is already paid off. the Government issued debt to get the money, the Bank of England bought that debt and has already cleared it using a similar method to quantitative easing.
Can’t see how such a massive debt can evaporate just like that

while the risk will be there for a while yet once we have the majority double jabbed the risks drop significantly due to transmission time. Its been shown with Delta that single dose doesn't really limit the transmission by much. double dose limits transmission by a lot more.

therefore once we have the majority double dosed, the transmission should plummet, less people getting it and those that do dont transmit as much or for as long. once that cycle is happening we'll be in an infinitely better place. those getting mild symptoms will be far less in numbers and they wont be infecting as many if they do get those symptoms.

unless a variant skips immunity entirely ( or immunity only lasts a short period ) I do see this virus burning its self out in the most part.

Anyway - another good day for Greater Manchester.

Bolton had only 8 more cases today (at 79) than the LOWEST in GM.

Six boroughs had more cases than Bolton in the GM 10.

Manchester sub 300 again. Only Salford and Wigan over 100 with Wigan second to Manchester but way behind. And Salford down both day to day and week to week.

There were no really low numbers today - there was only 64 between Bury(lowest today on 71) and Wigan.

Day to day GM was up 117 to 1091. Largely as most boroughs were up by a modest number each,

But the NW was up 334 today so that GM rise is well below the expected 167.

And week to week is even better again for GM

GM actually falls 12 week to week whereas the NW is UP 179.

S0 - as with the trend of the past week GM is not the problem it was a week or two ago. Other parts - like Merseyside and North Lancashire - are driving much of the NW rises now.

When they get under control the NW region should start to fall and as it is contributing the biggest chunk of the numbers to England cases right now that will stabilise things a lot.

Fuuuuckkkk. My wife just got off the phone to her best friend in South Africa. She’s a teacher and caught covid (no real vax programme there) and gave it to her husband and two kids and their six year daughter has just been put into a coma to be intubated. Talk about a mood killer. My Mrs is more or less in tears.

“Kids don’t get sick”, fuck off.

Can’t see how such a massive debt can evaporate just like that

It did seem a tad far fetched but from what they were saying, when the debt is owned by the bank that prints the money its all down to how quickly they can write it off without hitting inflation etc.

for scale the Bank of England added about £600bn in Quantitative easing surrounding the 2008 recession. that was £600bn they just created out of thin air. which is nearly double that of the Furlough scheme.

Its all about how that gets put into the economy without trashing the value of the £ or trashing inflation etc.

if that debt is bought by a foreign entity then its different.
