no doubt we could and should have done better but you cant compare us with NZ, which is the least connected developed country in the world.
Whose comparing, it’s about different strategies for different circumstances but there are some common denominators about what works and what doesn’t. Everyone knows we locked down too late in the first wave. Everyone knows we should have shut down travel with India weeks earlier. Hiding behind the demographics of New Zealand doesn’t change those facts.

It's shit isn't it.
I can't understand why double jabbed people need to isolate now but not in 4 weeks. That makes no sense to me. If they know now that double jabbed people are at very low risk of spreading it further why wait?
My 21 year old son caught it a month after his first jab, then again 3 weeks later so he's spent much of the last 5 weeks isolating as have we. It finishes today so he's off to the pub to watch the football. Hopefully he's got enough antibodies to not catch it again!
Me and the wife were talking this morning. We’re seriously considering not testing again moving forward unless we have to for travel approval. Our kids well being (mental included) are our main concern and priority. Not playing ball on something that makes no sense, after we’ve played ball for too long already.

There was an expert on the App on breakfast news yesterday who said the check in doesn’t affect the automated track and trace. It’s a bit of a gimmick in that regard.

Theres obviously glitches with this app 10 months into it by the looks of it if two people (me and the other half) get different guidance from a notification. It looks like it will play havoc in the coming months as well, the public’s trust in it is evaporating another shit load of tax payer money down the drain.

Cow is only saying that because NZ have failed in their vaccine roll out.

So they’re just going to cut themselves off from the rest of the world for the rest of time?
Many rich people have been able to travel in and out of Australasia, a bit like it’s been here but on a smaller scale.

The economies of Countries who handled Covid well haven’t been battered, so “living with Covid” isn’t essential. Some like New Zealand had demographic advantages but others who tackled the crisis early and hard didn’t.

We adopted the repulsive herd immunity strategy that failed. Hopefully, our successes with the vaccine programme mean the full reopening on 19th July will be a success.

I don't blame you. If the rules made some sort of sense there would be better compliance. As it is, half the rules make sense and half seem to be randomly thought up which means that people are more likely to ignore the lot which is the worst of all worlds.

I did that (promised lots of amazing things...you know...the kids had to have patience and understanding so we could be good citizens and get the vulnerable vaccinated!?!?)

A few of them are already cancelled, even though the vulnerable are long since vaccinated...with no end/uncertainty in sight.

Careful what you promise mate.
Mine are a bit older than yours I think mate so it's all good. They know they'll get what's promised, even if it's in 3 years time!!! Just feel so sorry for the younger ones. I just hope we don't end up with a generation of none hugging, emotionless introverts down the line.

The national track and trace had been pretty poor from the off. That said, if 2 people get different instructions from the app then it can be, for example, one person just being sat closer to the person with the virus for longer. You might have been a few feet closer and with in range or nipped to the loo. Who knows

Oh mate that's terrible. I had similar situations last year and it's heartbreaking for the kids. My way out of it was to promise amazing things when things open up again - looking at next summer now - 3 holidays instead of 1, all the festivals, football matches they can fit in etc, etc. and just spend all the money saved from doing fuck all for 2/3 years. Give them the best year of their lives. At least that's something.
Yes I did that last year. Promised this year we’d do festivals and go abroad. Both festivals cancelled and little chance of getting abroad. But we have been out for my daughters belated birthday meal, and last friday went out as a family celebrating Christmas. Just the December cancelled ice skating still missing!!

Yeah. Last Tuesday, my wife and I received a notification to self-isolate for six days. We weren't allowed out of the house to exercise or even to walk the dog. We were on a short break at the time, the day before were were due to return home anyway.

Four days before, we were in a pub in Worsley, so assume this is where our phone came into contact with the phone of someone who tested positive. Our son was with us though. He has the Covid app, a modern phone, but wasn't asked to self-isolate. Strange. In fact our son goes out quite a lot compared to me and the wife and I'm surprised he hadn't been asked to SI yet.

We're due to go away on 24 July. We'll either stay home before then or else be very careful where we go, in order to not have to cancel this holiday.
Just delete the app - it's a load of bollocks.

You're better off just ordering the home tests and doing one every week or so.
