Tamiflu has highly contested efficacy:

The reviewers concluded that there was no convincing trial evidence that Tamiflu affected influenza complications (in treatment) or influenza infections (in prophylaxis), and raised new questions about the drug’s harms profile.

OK then anti-virals. I didn't know it was a bad example.

Full GM details:

Total cases 2031 - UP 426 on Yesterday - from NW RISE of 990

Just below par.

Wk to wk DOWN 89 when the NW ROSE by 94. So GM is again doing much better here as if you go down when the region goes up you are obviously on the right track. Second day running that has happened.

BOROUGH / CASES TODAY / V YESTERDAY / V LAST WEEK

BOLTON 137 / UP 35 / UP 10

BURY 110 / UP 41 / DOWN 22

MANCHESTER 398 / UP 32 / DOWN 56

OLDHAM 233 / UP 100 / UP 23

ROCHDALE 200 / UP 60 / DOWN 40

SALFORD 214 / UP 87 / UP 15

STOCKPORT 168 / UP 34 / DOWN 7

TAMESIDE 141 / UP 8 / LEVEL

TRAFFORD 188 / UP 25 / UP 23

WIGAN 242 / UP 4 / DOWN 35

Everyone up today but only half up week to week. Modest numbers usually.

Bury still the best and well down week to week.

Stockport's numbers were yet again low relative to Trafford and extended by another big chunk their lead over Trafford as best overall Pop Score as Trafford had another poor day,

Manchester up on the day but down week to week.

Greater Manchester

Weekly total cases:-

Bury 703, Bolton 867 , Tameside 964, Stockport 1032 , Rochdale 1085, Trafford 1139 , Salford 1236, Oldham 1346, Wigan 1698, Manchester 2783

Much better day here with most falling and Bury pulling well clear now.

Not much else changed today,

17 year old son just tested positive. Very mild symptoms (slight headache and sniffle). Rest of us are negative, but still isolating for next 10 days. Me and wife double jabbed.

Kids now missing a combination of school, 3 day sailing trip, DofE weekend expedition, School Dance production that’s been worked on for months, Trip to Thorpe park, 7 Cricket games. When we come out of isolation it could happen again a few days later I guess.

This until mid August...and who knows maybe longer.

Kids are distraught, especially 13 year old daughter who’s being invited to watch her mates having fun on the end of a FaceTime.

Fuck off...just fuck off.

Really sorry to hear that. The D of E expeditions a some of my fondest memories of school.

I feel so sorry for kids at the moment. Making memories and team building experiences like this are irreplaceable.

GM Weekly Pop Data after today:~

Borough / Pop Today / 7 days ago / up or down wk to wk/ Testing is % of local population who have tested positive for Covid over past year.

As ever with Pop going up is bad, going down good - the higher the number the better or worse depending on direction moving. The Pop is total cases in past week versus 100,000 POPulation to even out the comparison versus size and expected cases based on numbers living there.

Oldham 568 / 429 / UP 139 Testing positive 11.5%

Wigan 516 / 483 / UP 33 Testing positive 10. 9%

Manchester 503 / 494 / UP 9 Testing positive 11.9%

Rochdale 488 / 423 / UP 65 Testing positive 11.4 %

Trafford 480 / 378 / UP 102 Testing positive 8.8%

Salford 477 / 498 / DOWN 21 Testing positive 11.2%

Tameside 426 / 349 / UP 77 Testing positive 9.6%

Bury 368 / 388 / DOWN 20 Testing positive 10.9%

Stockport 352 / 288 / UP 64 Testing positive 8.7%

Bolton 301 / 288 / UP 13 Testing positive 11.9%

Oldham back up and well clear as many others fell today,. Rochdale enough to go out of the 500s leaving just Manchester and Wigan.

Bolton back up just over 300 and Bury continued to fall and closed the gap on Stockport for second best current Pop score in GM thogh as Stockport was down too did not yet catch it.

But Bury and Salford both now FALLING week to week which is good to see and most other UP numbers well down, These are all positive signs.

Trafford case numbers remain a lot worse than Stockport and today lost another 22 in one go on its overall Pop Score to now be 114 behind Stockport - a 300 point turnaround from Trafford 200 ahead in under a month. Showing how hard Trafford has things at the moment

Stockport up 57 now on 8655 but Trafford up by 79 - to 8769

Bolton up 47 - best of the day - to 11, 998. Just missing the 12 K club until tomorrow

Oldham up the most today - 98 - to 11, 530.

Manchester up 72 - now on 11, 966 . Closing in on highest in GM from Bolton. Both will enter the 12 K club together tomorrow and it will be close as to who is the highest in GM as Manchester will overtake Bolton in the next day or two,

Rochdale up 90 - almost as much as its near neighbour Oldham which it has matched step for step most of the pandemic - now on 11, 455

Salford rose by 82 to 11, 219 .

But others are not far off.

Bury up 58 - highest in a while - now on 10, 975 - and likely to join the 11K club tomorrow,.

Wigan up by 76 to reach 10, 882.

So just Stockport and Trafford - both in the MID 8000s for now - and Tameside a rung above up 62 today on 9640. At that rate they will enter the 10 K club sometime next week.
