Thank you. Will wait to see how the second type of anti biotics that the doctor wants me to start today works out, But I trust her judgement on the need for them as I know it was a very strong infection so has to be eradicated in full or it will just cling on and return. They do not give anti biotics for everything these days as they used to do. So I know they are taking it seriously and, as they told me, keen to keep me out of hospital.

Why?

We infected a significant slice of the population before vaccines and 150,000 died as a result.

Worst case for Aus/NZ is that the same slice of the population is infected, but after vaccination, so far less will die.

How is this a deep hole?

There’s more of them still alive to help dig themselves out of it…

i've had the hunch that they are in a pickle for when they reopen as so few have caught it and locking down a few cases will mean it goes on forever.

but that was a very positive read.

Last week was 1815 cases and 10.6% positive

I don't think the intent is to do this, it certainly wouldn't make sense once vax rollout is complete, but I've no idea what the exact plan is

Shocking figures, and I guess brace for a big hospital impact soon, unless there's some nuance with the age distribution, disease severity or something going on that mitigates it.

And a warning for the rest of the country.

No. Huge rises started before they went back or in the exact days they started going back, so too early. Although if spread is as rife in the community I imagine schools will soon have an impact too.

Half of new cases in under 25s. Again things like football, nightclubs and increased socialising in general seems most likely. Not ideal timing prior to schools returning.
