England deaths 34 (down from 42 last week)

Cases 29, 612 - 22, 173 England

Versus 29, 173 last week (so up 439 wk to wk)

Versus 19, 913 England

So a wk to wk rise in England of 2260

So the week to week falls in England that have been reducing in size for a few days now become a week to week small increase.

NW AND GM HIGHLIGHTS

NW DOWN on day by 570 to 3138 BUT UP week to week by 153 from 2985

GM DOWN on day by 146 to 1097 - which is well under par for the NW fall. So not a great day.

GM UP 39 week to week from 1058 - which is a similar split of the rise so that is low and actually better news on the week to week measure which matters most.

Sadly the culprits are easy to predict. VERY surprised the media have more than a week on not noticed what is happening in Stockport.

Another bad day here - this time so bad it was again the highest case number in GM on 167 - which is down all of 1 on yesterday but up week to week 27.

More significantly it was actually 27 HIGHER than Manchester today which had its lowest score in months on just 140 - DOWN 25 week to week.

Very contrasting days there as the population of Manchester should always create more cases unless another borough with far lower population is clocking up a real high score.

Tameside though arguably had an even worse day as it was up more week to week by 44 to 133 cases (just 7 less than Manchester) and its Pop Score of 62 was the highest in GM versus Manchester's best in months of just 25.

Stockport was up by 57 - whereas Trafford - also not doing too well - up 42 week to week on 113 - was up 48 and gained another 9 points on Stockport putting it now 14 ahead for best Pop Score across the pandemic on 12, 663 V Stockport's 12, 677.

Only 4 boroughs were under 100 today - Salford (up 12 wk to wk) on 96. Bolton (down 12 wk to wk) on 90, Oldham (down 20 week to week) on 77 and the lowest Bury (down 25 week to week) on 56.

Hoopefully, the Stockport/Tameside triangle or whatever is creating the high case load in these neighbouring boroughs will fizzle out soon, As if it does GM should be in good shape going forward.

Interesting that Zoe has Cheshire East high too and now close to Chester & Cheshire West - these regions all have been around `12K/13K on Zoe. Not sure if there is a high crossover of people living/working/shopping in these neighbouring boroughs that were all before boundary changes in effect North Cheshire.

THE SPLIT BETWEEN NORTH AND SOTH REVERSED TODAY- SOUTH ALL UP AND NORTH AND MIDLANDS ALL DOWN

GM AS A PERCENTAGE OF NORTH WEST CASES

TODAY 35.0% UP FROM 33.5% YESTERDAY - GM DID LESS WELL V NW TODAY

DOWN SLIGHTLY FROM 35.4 % LAST WEEK

SO BETTER VERSUS THE NORTH WEST REGION WEEK TO WEEK WHICH IS WHAT MATTERS MOST

Well, the last three days have been comfortably my highest risk for exposure since the first lock down was imposed, I think.

- 1st day back in the office on Friday
- Etihad Saturday incl first train journeys
- first time in a theatre theatre today incl train journeys again

I'm not worried for myself, but I do wonder as much of this is being repeated countrywide, how transmission will be affected.

Quite a few friends kids have gone down with in on the last couple of weeks.

People have been doing that for months with no impact on transmission. Good to hear you are starting to return to normality.

People have been doing that for months with no impact on transmission. Good to hear you are starting to return to normality.

Actually, people haven't been gong to football matches for months, public transport is is way down still, and many workplaces, like mine, are just starting return to work plans.

Good to hear you remain unbothered by facts.

GREATER MANCHESTER SCOREBOARD

TOTAL CASES 1097 - DOWN 146 FROM YESTERDAY.

NORTH WEST DOWN BY 570 TO 3138. UNDER PAR SELF EVIDENTLY FOR GM.

VERSUS LAST WEEK GM WAS THEN 1058 - SO UP 39.

NORTH WEST ROSE BY 153 WEEK TO WEEK FROM 2985.

A LOW SHARE OF THE RISE WHICH IS A LITTLE BETTER FOR GM

STOCKPORT 167 - DOWN 1 on day & UP 27 wk to wk. Another bad day here. Second time in the week more than Manchester. Pop Score up 57 today. LOSING more points back to Trafford to increase their lead as lowest in GM across the pandemic to 14. But NOT the worst Pop Score rise in GM today at least. POP SCORE 12, 677

MANCHESTER 140 - DOWN 63 on day & DOWN 25 wk to wk. Manchester Pop Score up 25. Best in GM today. Pretty unusual for Manchester POP SCORE 15, 675

TAMESIDE 133 - DOWN 13 on day & UP 44 wk to wk - Another bad day here too. Pop Score up 62 - highest rise in GM today. To make thing worse takes it into the 14 K club . POP SCORE 14, 014

WIGAN 123 - DOWN 21 on day & DOWN 11 wk to wk. Pop score up 37 today - POP SCORE 14, 735

TRAFFORD 113 - UP 2 on day & UP 42 Wk to wk - Pop Score up by 48 points today. Good enough to take increase overall Pop Score across the pandemic from Stockport to 14. POP SCORE OF 12, 663

ROCHDALE 102 - UP 9 on day & UP 7 wk to wk. Pop Score up 45 . POP SCORE 15, 185

SALFORD 96 - DOWN 27 on day & UP 12 wk to wk. Pop Score up 37. POP SCORE 15, 413

BOLTON 90 - UP 26 on day & DOWN 12 wk to wk - Bolton Pop Score up 31. POP SCORE 14, 914

OLDHAM 77- DOWN 47 on day & DOWN 20 Wk to Wk. Pop Score up 33 and now 106 ahead of Manchester for highest overall GM pop score . POP SCORE 15, 781

BURY 56 - DOWN 11 on day & DOWN 25 wk to wk Pop score here up 29 only behind Manchester today. POP SCORE 14, 580

Actually, people haven't been gong to football matches for months, public transport is is way down still, and many workplaces, like mine, are just starting return to work plans.

Good to hear you remain unbothered by facts.

Are you still seething that the return of school kids didn’t create a huge rise like you predicted, or is it still from when you said the same about restrictions being removed? Most people have been living a normal life for months, you should try it.

GM boroughs weekly past 7 day case totals:

Bury 472, Rochdale 520, Oldham 656, Salford 669, Bolton 669, Trafford 781, Tameside 803, Wigan 879, Stockport 1076, Manchester 1206

At the right end of the table Bury and Rochdale pulling clear. Salford and Oldham and Bolton neck and neck.

At the wrong end of the table Manchester had another good fall and gets nearer Stockport every day. So as Stockport went up again the gap is now just 130 and Stockport is in the worst place numbers wise it has ever been right now.

Still the media have not seemingly noticed this despite it being obvious for over a week now. By the time they do Stockport will (hopefully!) be going down.

Some facts.

You could try and stop seething about them?

GM WEEKLY POP SCORES

Remember low scores good - going down good - high scores bad - going up bad

BOROUGH // POP SCORE TODAY // POP SCORE LAST WEEK // UP OR DOWN BY LAST 7 DAYS

Also WAS 4 weeks ago (up/down in past month)

MANCHESTER 217 // 291 //DOWN 74 WAS 325 (down 108)

ROCHDALE 232 // 309 // DOWN 77 WAS 247 (down 15)

BOLTON 232 // 289 // DOWN 57 WAS 217 (up 15)

BURY 247 // 307 // DOWN 60 WAS 269 (down 22)

SALFORD 255 // 348 // DOWN 93 WAS 393 (down 138)

WIGAN 266 // 362 // DOWN 96 WAS 262 (up 4)

OLDHAM 277 // 351 // DOWN 74 WAS 294 (down 17)

TRAFFORD 329 // 331 // DOWN 2 WAS 366 (down 37 )

TAMESIDE 357 // 420 // DOWN 63 WAS 372 (down 15 )

STOCKPORT 366 // 366 // FLAT WAS 324 (up 42 )

Manchester regains top above Rochdale and Bolton. But all are falling daily and nicely and seem likely to go into the 100s next week hopefully.

Bury, Salford and Wigan are joined by Oldham also sub 300 now too but numbers were less good and there were several rises.

The gap between Tameside and Stockport closed a bit today and Trafford is getting sucked into these top three with a gap to the rest,

Stockport also now the only borough NOT Falling week to week - though it just avoided going up and is flat - but that will change tomorrow witout a much better day.

Stockport also up the most versus last month.

Salford has been by far the best performwe over the past month falling lots.

4 weeks back it was top where Stockport now is and even higher. Hopefully Stockport will emulate that path.

Manchester too has fallen by over 100 across the month to go from near bottom to top.

Their terrific turnarounds are really why Stockport's modestly high numbers at any other point look worse than they are by comparison with the twin cities.
