Hospitals in England may struggle with winter surge of COVID – SAGE expert

One of Britain's top epidemiologists has warned that hospitals in England may be unable to cope with a significant surge in COVID cases this winter.
He added this may be the case even if vaccination rates mean deaths do not approach the same level as in 2020.
Great news!
That virtually guarantees it won't happen.

Pillar 1 & 2 tests today are:- 940, 981

That is about 66, 000 less than yesterday.

And about 57, 000 less than last Tuesday.

Most of the falling is coming from the other nations right now.

The numbers are VERY flat in England.
And the vast majority are in high schools and U30s.

Honestly, bit miffed that more than twice as many Brits dying as Germans or French or any other EU country in recent months.

No reason to obsess over anything, but any reason no one wants to wear masks in the shops? Seems plain daft, but maybe it'd have to go ballistic before people changed their minds.

Cmon you lot. Get those numbers down, show the filthy continentals what's what.

I’ve read (on Twitter) that occupancy in intensive care in the West Midlands is back to levels seen at the peak of the pandemic.
