Our world beating DATA tech strikes again!

Wales cannot report any data today.

They do not bother over the weekend and today should have been Saturday PLUS Sunday as usual.

Now they say they will issue THREE days in one go tomorrow making comparisons all but meaningless.

It is time someone found out why our data tech on the numbers is so dreadful. It has caused error after error and delay after delay in recent weeks. And just seems to be a mess.

By the way on the question of the South West data ZOE today has yet more record numbers AND for the first time the SOUTH WEST has become the highest scoring part of the entire UK on Zoe data.

ZOE SUMMARY TODAY

YET ANOTHER RECORD HIGH WHICH HAS HAPPENED EVERY DAY NOW FOR TWO WEEKS

PREDICTED CASES WELL UP AGAINL:-

ON 91, 273 UP FROM 88,784 & UP from 86,981 day before

FIRST TIME EVER OVER 90K

SO UP BY 2489 AFTER rises of 1803, 2139, 1887 & 1132 the days before.

It was 76,402 last week. UP 14, 871 in weel after a rise of 14,525 in week & 14,455 over past 2 days.

ONGOING INFECTIONS - ALSO SETTING A NEW RECORD DAILY AS THE HIGHEST NUMBER EVER - ABOVE THOSE RECORDED IN MID JANUARY AT THE HEIGHT OF THE UKs WORST WAVE

UP ON 1, 141,691 FROM 1,124,005 yesterday a rise of 17,686 in the day DOWN from 18,970 the day before.

HIGHEST ONGOING CASES ZOE HAD EVER REACHED IN THE UK BEFORE - LAST WINTER PEAK WAS 1,059,670 ON 11 JANUARY.

OF COURSE DEATHS THEN WERE 1500 A DAY NOT AROUND A TENTH OF THAT - 150 - A DAY AS NOW - THE BIG DIFFERENCE LEADING TO THIS BEING THE VACCINES

Today week to week v 1,015, 417 is a wk to wk a RISE of 126,274 UP from a rise of 123, 316 yesterday

So sadly still rising here and it is not looking like we will be falling below 1 million cases in this wave any time soon - it fell below that number after the peak in January within a few days.

INDEED THE ZOE GRAOH OF ONGOING INFECTIONS IS STILL RISING THE MOST STEEPLY IT EVER HAS.

THIS SEEMS A LESS DEADLY WAVE BUT ONE WITH AN ONGOING UPWARD TRAJECTORY THAT COULD STAY HIGH FOR WEEKS OR MONTHS

ZOE DATA IS HARD TO MATCH WITH A BIG DROP IN COMING WEEKS. BUT WE WILL SEE IF THAT CHANGES

Ongoing case numbers will always lag daily cases as if you catch Covid you will be a Covid case for a week or two but a new case only once.

ZOE APP REGIONAL NUMBERS

Current TOP NUMBERS:- ANOTHER DAY OF ALL CHANGE AT THE TOP AS SEVERAL REGIONS ARE CLOSE TOGETHER AND NUMBERS EVERYWHERE RISE UPWARDS

HEADLINES:- SOUTH WEST AFTER GOING UP FROM BEST TO WORST IN PAST MONTH INEVITABLY BECOMES THE MOST INFECTED REGION ON ZOE FOR FIRST TIME EVER GOING UP TO TOP FROM BOTTOM IN UNDER THREE WEEKS

SOUTH WEST
the worst region now in all UK not just England. UP BIG again on 1549 / 1857 FROM 1476 / 1776.

WALES now second and edging DOWN slightly ON 1456 / 1955 FROM 1462 / 1958.

NORTH WEST sadly UP to third again rising quite a bit than of late to 1375 / 1739 FROM 1331 / 1688

NORTH EAST drops to fourth and DOWN slightly on 1246 / 1857 FROM 1250 / 1857

YORKSHIRE in fifth UP too on 1325 / 1721 FROM 1301 / 1696

EAST MIDLANDS is sixth and UP - on 1315/ 1715 FROM 1306 / 1703

WEST MIDLANDS stays seventh and edges UP today on 1209 / 1599 FROM 1166 / 1546

The lowest of this England top range group are the three other southern regions - all now in the top watch zone:

East England UP today on 1239 / 1520 FROM 1209 / 1599

South East UP big too on 1200 / 1401 FROM 1147 / 1345

AND

London - still the lowest England region BUT finally tops the 4 figure barrier UP on 1007 / 1255 FROM 977 / 1221

THE MIDDLE WATCH ZONE NOW ONLY HAS BOTH REMAINING NATIONS. NOBODY LEFT IN THE LOWER ZONE AGAIN SADLY

SCOTLAND up sadly quite a bit now every day and may soon be into the upper watch zone too at this rate ON 812 / 1154 FROM 769 / 1099

AND THE LOWEST IN UK STILL THOUGH WITH SCOTLAND NOW IN THE MIDDLE WATCH ZONE BUT WELL CLEAR OF THE REST AS EASILY THE BEST NUMBERS IN THE UK RIGHT NOW:-

NORTHERN IRELAND
DOWN most today on 395 / 1430 FROM 441 / 1480

ZOE NORTH WEST NUMBERS:-

In the NW they have both Liverpool down in high 13 K and St Helens UP again on 21K

BUT Warrington falls again very slowly on 20,167 - down just 113

NEW LEADER in this part of the region is the Wirral who have shot up over past few days to one of the worst in the NW after successive rises AND today UP on 27,663.

The Fylde coast area is rising again - Fylde on 21K & Wyre happily down a lot though still the most in the region on 30,163.

Though the Lake District is going UP again just under 27K and Lancaster/Morecambe UP too on 20K

Cheshire East is inching UP again on 20,936 FROM 20,270 v Cheshire West DOWN a little on 24,531 - so East still behind.

Cheshire East less close now with Stockport who have also started rising again today.

As for GM - Headlne - Salford becomes best in GM again and into the lower watch zone. Stockport rises sadly after a week of straight falls BUT the very fast rising Oldham clocks highest in GM in some time. Manchester too still increasing fast on Zoe and is now well above most places outside GM in the NW.

The GM order according to Zoe with to nearest K numbers is:-

Oldham
- which was BEST in GM days ago - still going up up and away in top spot with biggest rise this week up today 4113 now on 29,358. HIghest GM score in weeks. AND - just as in the real case numbers - Manchester also shooting up just as fast now on Zoe. Up today nearly 3000 ON 25,175 - most in the city for some time and claiming second place. Rochdale up again too today - but only just - now on 24,162 - so falls to third. And Stockport stays fourth mostly because of those bigger rises ahead of it as it is now sadly going UP again too by over 800 today after 6 days of falling. Now on 21,463. Trafford also has started to inch UP again today rising by 628 onto 15,340. .Bury is next just 76 cases lower. Wigan still falling DOWN on just under 13K, Tameside UP 500 and high12K too. Bolton edges UP today but still in mid 11K. And the GM star once again is Salford - still falling after weeks as the best in GM then a recent flirtation going up - and again back to being best with lowest numbers after dropping 6K over the past week and now in the lower watch zone sub 10K on its own on 9798.

THESE ZOE NUMBERS ARE PRETTY GOOD MATCHES FOR WHAT WE ARE SEEING IN THE REAL CASE NUMBERS AND WEEKLY/MONTHLY POP SCORES FOR THE TEN BOROUGHS

SCOTLAND DATA

0 deaths - was 0 last week- No registrar reporting on Sunday so usually 0 here

2240 cases - was 2194 last week - pretty flat numbers which is OK

10.3% positivity - was 11.5% last week - especially as this is falling

902 patients - was 899 yesterday & 857 last week

57 ventilated icu - was 58 yesterday & 44 last week

Slight signs of a flattening of the hospital numbers again too which is good

NORTHERN IRELAND DATA

4 deaths - was 3 last week

1019 cases - was 1091 last week

Weekly cases 8907 - was 8663 last report Friday & 8946 last Monday. Still very flat here

50 CARE HOME OUTBREAKS - DOWN 4 ON LAST REPORT ON FRIDAY - WAS 67 LAST WEEK - GOOD FALLS STILL HERE HAPPILY

348 Patients - was 358 on Friday & 347 last week

24 ventilated - was 24 on Friday & 24 last week

By the way the last three Monday N Ireland cases numbers were 1109, 1091 and 1019 very flat and falling two weeks running - JUST!

Though on line someone has already noted the apparently more 'important' fact that they all contain the numbers 9-11 which means...um, nothing.

It's probably fair comment to say natural immunity can be as effective or even more effective than the vaccine but it also can be less effective. With the vaccine you pretty much know the level of immunity you're getting but with natural immunity it can be variable, which is one of the reasons for getting vaxxed even if you've had the disease.
Imagine if we could reap the benefits of natural immunity and vaccines by everybody behaving in a socially responsible manner and wearing facemasks. This would probably be enough to keep things in check.
