Coronavirus (2021) thread

Just had an e-mail from the NHS encouraging me to book my booster jab even though I had it on Tuesday, and it is clearly shown on my records on the NHS app. Good to see the admin side of the NHS is just as rubbish as all other government departments.

It will have just been a blanket email to all those eligible. Costs virtually nothing to send an email so would have been more expensive to filter it properly Id guess.

Question for anyone who knows about the covid app.
I received an alert this morning, saying i'd had contact with someone with covid yesterday.
Someone at my place of work had a positive test yesterday and i thought it must be about that but my company says it can't be as i'm not on her phone contacts, they say it can't be work related as i'm not a contact of hers.
Is that how it works or does my phone just have to be near her ?
I haven't been anywhere but to work and back yesterday.
Any advice would be much appreciated as my employers are being cnuts about this.
I've booked a test for later today

Send this to your manager.
It’s fuck all to do with phone contacts.

of course they’ll probably just instruct you to delete the app!

Thank you.
It says within 2 metres for at least 15 minutes, i work about 10 metres away, not sure if it'd still alert but there's bound to be times when i'm closer to her, in the kitchen etc.
Work are adamant i've not got the alert from her though .
Weird they're being so arsey about this, i just said i'd work from home until i had the test result back ffs

Well my pcr test results came back positive, thats me confined to a bedroom in our house for another 8 days at least.
Mightly pissed off to be honest, there was apparently two other confirmed cases on the site Ive been working on in town, and nobody said anything. Just selfish beyond belief some folk and dont give a shit about anyone else.

Thank you.

Your employer is chatting shit. They have no way of knowing this. If you've spent a full working day within 10m of someone who's had COVID that will definitely class as a close contact.

Surely it's in their interest to let you work from home to prevent further spread. So narrow-minded.

I think we're now seeing the start of the end of COVID. Some interesting notes about the AY.4.2 variant came up yesterday, it's spreading just as fast as Delta however so far it seems to be a far milder variant.

It does seem to be more transmissible which weirdly is amazing news as it could replace Delta as the dominant variant and reduce serious cases.

As in they went to work knowing they had COVID?

Hope you're not too rough with it. At least once it's passed you'll be able to enjoy yourself and relax a bit whilst you're out and over Christmas.

That's great if true, but I'd still be quite cautious. If it's more transmissible it means more infections, more mutations etc.

Continental Europe shows that COVID definitely isn't over yet.

Note, Its 15 minutes combined through out the day not just a one off hit. so just walking past there desk, going for a cuppa and they are there etc.
