Yeah, for lower vaxxed countries absolutely, and some countries are now higher than us.

Unlike us, they are taking action to respond.

But there are NOT "many" countries following "plan B" who we are at a "much lower level" than. It might happen, but it hasn't yet.
Do you ever wonder if some of the action you mention and propose for the UK might actually have a detrimental impact?

It certainly doesn't appear to have a positive impact given the rocketing case rates across the European countries which enacted the 'plan B' (and additional measures) as mentioned.

Germany, Belgium and Holland all appear to have higher rates than the UK and many more in Central Europe.
Netherlands posted 23,680 new cases today, that’s 5,678 up on the seven-day average. Some 205 were admitted to hospital and another 33 to ICU. On a brighter note, the first booster jab was given out today. Come to think of it, that’s rather late…

If there was any doubt about masks. and there are some anti maskers on here.

Studies have shown this since the SARS-CoV-1 outbreak nearly 20 years ago. In East Asia, it’s been common to wear masks in the Winter. Lots of East Asians were wearing masks here in Britain during the big 2017-18 Winter of influenza.

More widespread evidence has shown they work against the spread of SARS-CoV-2, like you’ve shown there, yet still people won’t wear them.

Some people still think they’re for protecting yourself from contracting the virus when they’re actually for protecting other people. It’s just simple courtesy for others to wear them, I’ve worn them since February 2020 and will contunue to do so.

To put that into perspective their population is 16.9m. That’s one case for every 713 people in just one day.

Has there been any research (I'm sure there has so probably the wrong question) into similar effects with long Covid?

Although I'm not back running in some capacity (8 months on and nowhere near the pace I had pre covid) I never really shook the cough off.
I've just succumbed to a really bad chest infection.
I've had it over a week but it's worsened over the past few days.
Managed to see a doc who thought it was probably viral (I'd hope I could get prescribed meds to try and eradicate it) but I'm non stop coughing to the point of throwing up/almost blacking out.
Ribs feel bruised and I'm totally wiped.

Not sure if it's because my immune system has been compromised or I still had remnant of covid cells sat in my lungs.

Goodness me. Sad to hear it continues. You must be pulling your hair out.

Have you had a consultant or doctor keep an eye on how you are progressing, or not, as it seems?

It should be criminal!! But for all the sweet talk they give outside the sites, the reality is anything but, left me in a right old quandry as to what to say to the track and trace, as in there will not be a job for me at the end of the ten days if I flag the site up.

Sadly big jump up in UK cases today too.

On 46,807 - the biggest rise by farn being in England - up nearly 9000 on yesterday and 4000 on last week.

The most in England in four weeks.

However, the hospital data in England is better again today. Though cases take time to translate into patients remember so todays rise would not appear- if it does - until next week.

England patients down third day running (though by less today - just 76 - not over 200 as on past two days) to 6336. Ventilators also down to 779 by 13.

Full details on the data thread later.

Looks like a lot of the European plan B-type countries are now struggling with a surge in cases, whilst the UK meanders on at a much lower level.

There were plenty of smart arses in here demanding we change our approach to follow theirs, not too long ago.
Today's stats say different. The UK is on the brink of another surge.

You can't judge a country's response over the course of a few days (or even weeks). You have to compare over a much broader period and to date, the UK has handled the pandemic as poorly as any European country (based on deaths per capita).

The clear sign is that its unvaccinated people driving these surges. Hopefully, more people see sense and get vaccinated ahead of the inevitable Christmas spike.

For those who don't believe the narrative, here's the narrative telling you to believe the narrative. Checkmate.
