With the mandatory vaccines coming in Austria how do they enforce that? If people don’t want to take it now I have no issue however if they end up been admitted to hospital maybe they should have medical instead to cover it.

Cases quite high for a Monday - 44,917 - up over 5000 on last Monday.

Most of the rise in England

Who knows where cases will go from here, but good news is that hospitalisation seems to be defying the upward case trend.

Particularly in age groups most boosted:

Get vaxxed, get boosted.

I've got no issues with people not getting the jab, but I'd personally refuse those who choose not to get the vaccine 'because reasons and they want to take their chances', medical traetment/hospital beds.

This countrys hospital system is fucked and whilst it needs more investment, we need to stop pandering to people who refuse a vaccination for no logical reason. People who cannot get the vaccine for health reasons, is fine.

I agree Roubaix.

North West actually FELL over the weekend both in patients and in those on ventilators and currently at its lowest numbers in weeks (905 in hospital and 94 on ventilators) despite the case numbers being high.

The reason is interesting. In the data thread I post the numbers today from Northern Ireland where deaths are falling as are hospital numbers.

Why? Well the numbers aged both 60 - 79 and 80 PLUS have both dropped steadily over the past week or two even as the total cases over the 7 day period have risen in that time from just over 9000 to almost 12,000.

This is because the numbers catching it are around 40 - 45% of school age (more in the 11 - 15 than over 15 too) and the numbers over 60 testing positive are going down despite cases rising.

The risk period will come at Christmas when these kids meet granny not their parents - who are catching it too from the kids as the second highest age range testing positive (20 - 39 is below both the kids and the parents).

This has to be because the boosters are working and the over 60s have had the majority of them so far and - we can hope - as they work their way down the age groups the younger numbers will fall too.

I can even notice that the deaths over 80 are lower most days now than the 60 - 79 age and that really only makes much sense if you factor in the booster going first to the oldest and most vulnerable.
