And russia. They have low vaccination rates and don't seem to have much exposure to the virus either.

Even Tass admits that the numbers in Russia are probably greater than known. Given Russia’s confessed inability to distinguish, I wouldn’t imagine that’ll change.

Went and did a bit of Christmas shopping in town after the game yesterday, dissapointing how many people were not wearing masks. And how the shop security did nothing to prevent them entering.

Largely mild because by now most South Africans have 'seen' the virus, or mild because it's less virulent? I can't say but I know the difference. i am not interested enough to search who said what. What's more interesting is what is happening, and to know how serious a problem we are facing.

I think that's a good point. A lot of people in South Africa have been exposed to Delta. It also true there are less older people there because of the brutal reality that life expectancy there is much lower than here. From what I can see so far Covid has "behaved differently" in differerent areas of the world depending on the population demographic. No one can know what is going to happen in the UK yet so it is right to be cautious. The problem I have is that some elements in the media seem to be revelling in scaremongering. We just need balanced coverage.

I guess the security can only antagonise people and they want those people to spend money in their shops.

What can they do apart from ask why they aren’t wearing masks and get a volley of abuse in return?
