Thanks - I wasn’t aware of there being much of a difference between Delta and Alpha symptoms. I think there’s a much bigger shift towards different symptoms with Omicron though.

I think it was more a shift in order of what we’re more prevalent to be honest at that point. I think smell/taste dropped a lot with delta.

They worked up until Omicron. (And still do to a limited degree)

They are now working on one for Omicron.
OK cheers.

So they was effective against all variants, less so so against Omicron,

So it's true antibodies response is not as good, but we don't know the same about t cell.

Am I correct if T cells are still good, they are more important than the antibodies response. So natural and previous vaccines could still be very effective because t cell can't be measured

Ha ha, I know I'm not explaining this really well.

What I'm saying is if t cells can't be measured, no one knows if vaccines response is bad or good

I think we ultimately know in the number of deaths per infection rate being vastly lower that they are pretty decent.

As @grunge said previously, they hadn’t updated the vaccine because of the prohibitive cost to gain a small margin of % extra.

They new variant has made them start tweaking it.

Went for my pcr test at the ground yesterday and it was rammed still not got results yet ,yes it will be positive xmass cancelled no match, spare room thank fuck we have sky in there but on the plus side I've had every jab and I will live to fight another day keep safe blues and make a bit more noise at the game for me .merry Christmas everyone

London hospitalisations rising steeply.

ONS estimate of 1 in 20 figures for London for 13 December 2021 and 19 December 2021 for London will already be out of date. Officials seem to be talking about restrictions now to reduce effects of absence but surely this is too late for London?

Unvaxxed?
I don't know. I googled NHS admissions and there's an Excel spreadsheet which just gives overall numbers.

The figures are surging. The ONS infection survey also has a breakdown for London. If you look at the ONS Infection survey the headline figures for ENgland are 1 in 35 or 1.4m for 13th to 19th Dec. London is 1 in 20 for that period. It is 1 in 10 for the 19th December!!!!

England patients up today from 7114 to 7336 - they almost always go down on a Friday (discharge pre weekend and in this case Christmas) so that is a very steep change today from when they FELL last Friday from 6405 to 6321.

So up now over 1000 week to week - biggest weekly climb in some time.

London up today from 2097 to 2260 - so a rise of 163 of the 222 total rise today.

London up week to week from 1534 - a rise of 726 - nearly 50%.

Though from weekly cases in those 7 days in London of 171,100 - so about 0.4% of the cases (one in 250) became hospital cases by that rough comparison not allowing for any lag.

North West was up 16 to 1008 today. a rise of 149 in the week just over 18%. From 64,077 cases - so just over 0.2% of cases v admissions in the North west on the same basis.

Very rough but as you see the vast majority of cases are not going straight into hospital.

Nobody else went up anywhere near London though Midlands (up 22). Yorkshire (up 39) were up more than NW.

London is by far the big riser in these numbers right now though other regions (including NW especially) are building cases and look set to join them but not yet close to those London numbers.
