584, 125 pillar 1 and 2 tests.

That is a remarkable positivity rating of just 4.3%

Below the WHO 5% for control of a pandemic.

The media will report it as a big cases rise and entirely miss that most important number.

Why on Earth does England never promote this figure as it really is what counts.

Sadly its probably because we've got a relatively ignorant populace. Push that, people will quite literally drop their guard. I *hate* that it's this way, but my opinion of people has dropped substantially during all this, so I can't really disagree with the logic behind it. Either way, very, very good news re the falling cases. Truly awful about the deaths though.

i'll answer, maybe they're genuine queries;

1 - there's a global pandemic, currently the UK has suffered a bit with this (i saw in the news the other day).
2 - bodies are usually kept in morgues in hospitals or specially built facilities. sadly, due to non-normal surges in those dying, some temporary facilities have been used in some areas.
3 - The funerals take place in registered places, as per normal. There are over 4,000 funeral directors in the UK who attend to ca. 600,000 deaths per year (subject to religion, wishes etc). in 2020 there were ca. 700,000 deaths.

The point i am trying to make is that we didnt go from no deaths happening to suddenly 100,000 (though granted, it does sometimes come across that way), this is a system used to 600k per year. Each funeral director would have had to take on an extra 25 funerals in 2020 (but obviously this doesn't quite work with timings, are differences, religions, choice etc). Hope some of this at least helps a bit.
Thanks, I was just wondering

its sad to see those numbers but take stock, 1000 dead people average 1 person from every town in England so its hardly going to be noticable, were not talking boddies stacked to the ceiling here
Thanks, it just seems like there is no end to it!

I don't know but I do know they have relaxed the guidance re specific allergic reactions.

I am allergic to penicillin (an antibiotic for example) but I am expecting to be able to have either jab.

Edit: I googled this. MHRA guidance changed so that if you have a reaction to a random unrelated medicine you are OK to have the jab as long as there are no components of the vaccine to which you are allergic.

Specialist Pharmacy service

I would check with GP or qualified health professional.
Thanks Marvin

Her doctors have said to tell them all the information when she goes to have it and they will advise on what’s best.

Im going with her next week so will make sure she tells them everything. It’s weird cos she’s had antibiotics all her life with no issues and this last lot just didn’t agree with her.

311.060 new 1st doses. Not a great figure. 7.16m vaccinated.
This needs to be significantly higher.

That makes sense. And I agree about the deaths. Sadly well over what I had hoped we could be keeping it down to but likely inevitable once we decided to let what will no doubt come to be known as Killer Christmas to occur.

Though I know it would likely have been impossible to entirely prevent. Even had we tried that I don't think we did anywhere near enough.

How many visited their oldies as 'they have not seen us all year' and as a consequence will now not see them at all ever again.

I know how hard a decision this was about Christmas but this was tragically so predictable and was predicted - in here and no doubt lots of other places.

So I fear that will never reduce the sadness that we sleepwalked into a a tragedy worse than it needs to have been because the outcome was never in doubt.

Thanks Marvin

I had penicillin when I was a kid for bronchitis and I can remember the immune reaction to this day. Violent nausea.
Hope it goes well for you and your Mum. My Mum and Dad had the Pfizer vaccine. My Mum felt a little unwell for 48 hours, but my Dad was fine.

That 4 per cent positive tests figure is the best news we have had for months but as you say it will not be reported. The media coverage throughout has been amazingly one-dimensional and very politicised. Everything is led by the press conference agenda with hardly any independent journalism.
Thanks for posting this important information.
