Been to The Etihad this evening to have my first jab. My word what an operation they have running there. Incredible organisation and just a constant flow of people moving through. Was even given the date and time of my 2nd dose and had a text through to my phone with all the details before the lady had even finished her sentence!

All settings deaths finally updated to 1245.

6 up on yesterday but 156 down on last Friday.

Still too many tragedies. But could be so much worse given where we were up around 1800 a few days ago.
I was really hoping that today would be down below 1000 deaths, it just seems like a number that has become accepted.

Cheers long may it continue until we get on top of this shit.

A friend of mine I went to school with is miffed. She has loads of underlying health conditions and lives in Brooklands but has been told it could be months for her yet.
That’s a shitter, let’s hope she gets a spare one in the meantime, I have heard that’s happening with left over ones in areas.

We do, finally, nearly 4 weeks after lock down, seem to have passed the peak in reported deaths.

Let us hope they fall as fast as cases have, and let us hope we can keep the pressure on there too.

Most 80 year olds have now been vaccinated, and they constitute half of those dying. Over the next month, we should start to see the death toll drop even faster than the case load has to date, as people becoming exposed no longer become infected, or suffer just mild symptoms.

And let's not lose our compassion and think how it feels in Europe where similar hopes have just taken a huge hit. My parents, vaccinated only yesterday wouldn't get the chance for weeks to come there. Many in their position will die. I hope we can use our privileged position to help in some small way.

Yes I think she comes under Manchester and I'm in Trafford, not sure if that makes any difference.

it will start to drop mate, dont forget the hospitals are still busy, this time next week fingers crossed around half of your figure

To be fair today is one of the most positive days I have had for months, more vaccines being approved, cases are dropping, the lockdown seems to be having a positive effect as well. The Government seems to have their finger on the pulse with the roll out of the vaccines and more and more test facilities opening up.
For the first time I can see a light at the end of the tunnel, it was even light when I came out of work tonight and the thought of spring around the corner.
The number of deaths dropping significantly would be the icing on the cake.

It wasn't a direct go at him more a "Fucking hell!" of surprise at the post. I'd just had my first jab, seen lost of positive stuff then that post popped up lol!
I actually agree with Dave I'm afraid, I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop when we all find out that new variants are resistant and we just go around and around in circles. Obviously I'd hope that's not the case but I'm getting old and (even more) cynical.

BBC Health correspondent said the Novovax vaccine will provide a rocket boost to the UK vaccine programme.

Apparently you need 2 shots. I hope their Stockton plant has a stockpile which can go straight into circulation once authorised. That would be a massive boost.
I would have thought the air around Teesside might have rendered the vaccine null & void
