These vaccines have been on the horizon for a while. I'm sure after all the money wasted on ppe stuck in container ports a bit of foresight could have been used to make it a little bit easier to prepare for vaccinations. Lessons learnt and all that
Maybe they have, the vaccine isn't "stuck in container ports", neither you nor I know where it is "stuck", but if it's not available what more can anyone do ?

Remember we have vaccinated around 1m already, more than pretty much anywhere else.

This is not what is being proposed , people will get two doses of the same vaccine , it is the time interval that has changed.
New guidelines change the interval between doses, people will get the same vaccine each time, seemed quite clear about this in the announcement unless the published guidelines say different? So those who have already had a Pfizer for first dose will get that as their second dose.
Sorry I should have explained what I meant and provided a link.
The government have updated the Covid vaccination booklet to say
'For individuals who started the schedule and who attend for vaccination at a site where
the same vaccine is not available, or if the first product received is unknown, it is
reasonable to offer one dose of the locally available product to complete the schedule.'

It's here on p12 https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-the-green-book-chapter-14a

Okay Greater Manchester folks. You are going to get hopping mad unless there is a move immediately to put Merseyside in Tier 4. Afaik there is not.

GM had a 'bad day' (the quotes infer context as you will see).

Up - but only by 53 to 1418. With all 10 boroughs over 100 for first time in a good while.

That 53 increase out of the 418 increase for the NW shows you clearly that other parts of the NW are much worse right now and have been for some time. The government has to know this.

As a result the GM % of the NW total has FALLEN to yet another record low. 27%

It has fallen steadily now for 3 weeks as things have got worse showing who was doing well and who not.

When GM went into higher measures and Liverpool did not GM contributed twice as much as now - over 50%

So where is the driving force of this GM decrease despite GM numbers going up?

One guess.

Liverpool today 546 cases and a Pop Score rise of 110. Manchester 284 and a Pop Score rise of 52.

And the Wirral 429 cases and a Pop Score rise of 132.

These are not one offs they have been easily apparent building in the data day to day since pre Christmas and will obviously result in Merseyside going into tier 4......but way too late and in a big mess by then.

If I lived on Merseyside still I would be furious about this incompetence or whatever it was. It certainly was not intelligent.

I can’t figure out the governments attitude to Liverpool. Is it purely that they held them up as an example of how to do it right (agree to tier 3, agree to mass testing ) and until recently were telling us all we could be in tier 2 if only we behaved like the good folk of Liverpool. And now that’s shown to be a load of rubbish. Or is it something else?

Some of it is the age old problem of relying on a week old data as they do for far too many decisions. But there is more than that here as the trending has been apparent longer than that.

I don't want to play politics on this but more than the numbers had to be involved. They really cannot have missed this trend.

What I can never get my head around is surely all of this bunch of dicks will know somebody either directly or indirectly who has had it/been in hospital/died.
I’ve got a mate who is a bright lad but would claim the Covid was exaggerated. He changed his tune when two of his old mates died, RIP.

Yes I read about that earlier. So organised they’d got portaloos and a ticketed bar! I’m a fairly live and let live person and can’t get worked about most ‘rule breaking’ but that is shocking. And to damage a 500 year old church. At least go and find a disused warehouse!!
People who organise events like that have no regard for anything including life itself, whoever they ordered the portaloos from should be investigated too, as they must have known what they were for.

Big problem too is that as much as we get to see your really useful stats, the vast majority of the general population don’t. Consequently the people on Merseyside are still under the belief that they are doing better than other places as still in tier 3 so give an inch take a foot, they all abuse the system more and it gets even worse results.

It‘s fucking crazy.

REGIONAL SCOREBOARD SOUTH

EAST 7640 - up from 7479. Record high.

LONDON 15, 089 - up from 12, 404 Record high.

SOUTH EAST 10, 344 - up from 9771, Record high.

SOUTH WEST 2104 - down from 2686.

35, 177 - another record

69% of todays England cases in the South.

And those London figures are terrifying.

Wk to wk over past month here: 4238 v 7378 v 9790 v 15, 089 TODAY

This may well be where the NW is headed in the month of January unless we do enough to stem the tide.

I'm hoping that the decision for us to be in Level 3 for as long as we were helps to keep our numbers down, the figures you have quoted for London over the last week show the utter stupidity of the decision to keep them in level 2 for so long.

An eight-year-old child in England has died after testing positive for coronavirus, as the number of new cases in the UK exceeded 50,000 for the fourth day running.

The government announced a further 53,285 COVID-19 cases on New Year's Day, with 613 more deaths recorded.

The figures are down on those announced on New Year's Eve, when the UK recorded 55,892 new cases - the highest figure on record - and 964 deaths were confirmed.

It brings the total number of UK cases to 2,542,065 and the total number of deaths with 28 days of a positive test to 74,125.

Not necessarily! Up until last this monday just gone I neither knew anyone who's had it or knew of anyone that knows someone that's had it! I'm 100% not defending these selfish pricks but I can see why, if they haven't been exposed to it, they might be less inclined to believe in it.

Gonna sign up
Good luck with the unbelievable amount if paper work you have to provide.
Well done though.
(Recently retired doctors and nurses have been banging their heads against a wall trying to sign up.)
