That's horrible timing for him, so presumably he's caught it in the hospital when he already had pneumonia? Good luck to him, hopefully he can pull through but it sounds like a rough one

ok, but why do we need to social distance until the end of the year? That seems pointless as everone who needs a vaccine would of had one by the summer.

And also kaz we went into lockdown not to stop all deaths but to relieve the pressure on hospitals.

Once we get hospital numbers down to manageable levels via vaccination, restrictions should be lifted.
 
By the looks of it Captain Tom is in hospital because of battling pneumonia for a week or two and not as a result of the the Covid positive result. On a ward too. Not icu. Which is good.

Not sure why I am surprised (as he should be on it but isn't) yet there is a list out there of when every elderly celeb has had their vaccination!

Probably ,just a guess , it will settle in the summer and things will be eased but then we cant go into the winter in the same way we did this one , we have to go in as low as possible which means distancing and maybe masks still

The nhs has to be protected at all costs

It is yet to be established how long natural and vaccinated immuity lasts and whether we have to vaccinate everyone again in the autumn , lots yet up in the air

He hasn’t had the jab. Because he’s had pneumonia for several weeks.

Firstly, why would we need to social distance if no one who had the vaccine, (both doses) ended up in hospital.?

And secondly what do you mean when you say the NHS has to be protected at all costs. No economy means no NHS there has to be a balance Kaz.

Because if we have to start vaccinating again it takes time

Be better if you just said the economy is more important and be done with it !

Nhs needs protecting from being overwhelmed , the staff are struggling , pdsd is common amongst them , it is only fair to protect them , they are people who are battered emotionally as well as worn out
 
Almost every single day in the last 7 days the total UK all settings deaths fell:

Week to week

Mon-Mon 599 to 592

Tue-Tue 1619 to 1631 (only blip up 12)

Wed-Wed 1820 to 1725

Thu-Thu 1290 to 1239

Fri-Fri 1401 to 1245

Sat-Sat 1348 to 1200

Sun-Sun 610 to 587 Today


That is one of the most hopeful bits of data proving we are over the peak of this wave. As the England hospital data alone already inferred.
 
An idiot went into Tesco Chorlton with no mask and was refused entrance. He came back with 5 masks pinned to his coat.
Police took him away.
Where do these idiots get these daft ideas?

I didnt say that about the economy so no need to be unpleasant.

I just realise that what we are doing isnt sustainable, you appear to think that it is despite millions of people suffering terribly and the economics not stacking up.

When hospital covid numbers are down to sustained manageable levels and staffing levels are resumed then it makes perfect sense to open things up. Thats the point of the vaccination scheme.

England hospital data

also continues the good news:

Patients 28, 112 - down 459 on yesterday and 4795 on last week at 32, 907.

Ventilators 3336 - down 120 on yesterday (biggest fall ever I think) and 400 on last week at 3736.

Though sadly it needs to be remembered this means quite possibly many of them on these died.


This fall is excellent progress again though. Regional numbers will follow.

Given we werent talking about the economy but of the health side then dont assume anything
