no one i know is remotely interested in Covid anymore - family, friends all mixing as they were pre covid. No more social distancing and it's not even talked about aside from the Holiday/Weddings restrictions side of things.

Don't any of them have the brains to connect the rising numbers with exactly the behaviour you describe? Or is it a case of fuck everyone why should I show any social awareness and if that leads to more cases so what?

England hospital data:

My take - Could be a lot worse - the vaccines seem to be reigning this in.

Admissions up to 131 - highest in more than a month v 98 last week

NW admissions up from 19 to 43 today wk to wk. Last 3 days 43 - 45 - 43

Patients down 3 to 876 v last week it rose by 25 to 801

Ventilators up 1 to 141 v last week down 7 to 116

NW inpatients today up 10 to 256 v 196 last week - biggest wk to wk rise lately and in UK

BUT no longer highest patient total as London up 21 today to 270 v 241 last week

The reason overall patient numbers did not go up but fell is other regions did much better.

East down 11 to 57 v 49 last wk

Midlands up 1 to 124 v 138 last wk (falling here)

NE & Yorkshire down 2 to 99 v 101 last wk (falling here too)

South East down 20 to 54 v 58 last wk (another area falling)

South West down 2 to 16 v 18 laat wk (falling).

You can see where we would be without this variant having been let in - opening up 100%.

Ventilators

NW down 2 on day to 45 v 35 last wk

London up 2 to 47 v 40 last wk - regains the lead and more evidence London is tracking the NW of a few wks ago.

East up 1 to 11 v 8 last wk

Midlands up 2 to 17 v 15 last wk

NE & Yorkshire down 1 to 13 v 13 last wk

South East stays at 7 v 4 last wk

South West down 1 to just 1 v 1 last wk

North West and London between them now driving almost all the rise in hospital data and a huge chunk of all of the numbers.

526 of the 876 patients and 92 of the 141 ventilators

8 in 10 adults have antibodies. Ons say.
I'm looking now and after lockdown I've got an anti-body.

I'm supposing there are lots of people who've had the vaccine who are now confident they'll be OK and feeling rather tired of the restrictions and the governments cock ups and poor communication.

Personally I'll continue to respect the anxious people by wearing a mask and social distancing in public.

Totally correct. Supermarket's have stopped the queuing thing, social distancing never really existed once inside anyway. Pubs are sticking to the table rule but as the night wears on people are hugging, kissing, shaking hands and moving about. Masks are still being worn on transport but I see a fair few without them. As you rightly say everyone has had enough now, some may be aghast at that but it's the reality

UK hospital data:

Wales
: 29 Patients (up 2) 2 Ventilated (down 1)

N Ireland 18 patients (up 3) 0 ventilated (same)

Scotland 121 patients (same) 14 ventilated (up 2)

So patients up 5 to 168

Ventuilators up 1 to 16

UK PATIENT TOTAL 876 + 168 = 1044 - was 1042 yesterday

UK VENTILATED TOTAL 141 + 16 = 157 - was 155 yesterday

Bloody hell Marvin - you are some boy - every time i log on this thread for what feels about 12 months you say the same thing. You have a mutation / variant fetish.
Forewarned it forearmed as they say.

Ever since the Kent variant came along, this has been a race between vaccine development and viral evolution.

Cases across the regions:

Change in last 24 hrs V seven days ago

SOUTH

East Down 86 to 227 V 181

London Up 221 to 994 V 573 - doubled wk to wk

South East UP 46 to 506 V 377

South West UP 113 to 275 V 128 - still rising here

South starting to show clear signs of going into the similar as NW escalation phase. London cases notably up.

MIDLANDS

East UP 31 to 342 V 140

West UP 54 to 454 V 242

Numbers doubling wk to wk here too

NORTH

North East UP 60 to 302 V 122 - highest in ages here and tripled over the week

Yorkshire UP 166 to 707 V 363- doubled again week to week to hughest number in ages and starting to show evidence of the same problem as NW and London

AND

NORTH WEST UP 272 to 2112 V 1158 - Up to biggest number yet and close biggest rise wk to wk

Past weeks NW numbers are 1643 - 1755 - 1752 - 1605 - 1673 - 1840 - 2112

Equivalent NW numbers a week earlier 1025 - 1251 - 781 - 935 - 1038 - 780 - 1158

Full GM details:

Total cases 1062 - Up 112 on Yesterday - which is good as NW rose by 272 on the day

Wk to wk up 415 of the NW rise of 954 - also well under the expected 50%.

So GM not rising as fast as some areas in NW are week to week. An ok day again here.

BOROUGH / CASES TODAY / V YESTERDAY / V LAST WEEK

BOLTON 133 / UP 6 / DOWN 16

BURY 83 / UP 33 / UP 44

MANCHESTER 290 / UP 76 / UP 127

OLDHAM 57 / DOWN 19 / UP 24

ROCHDALE 65 / DOWN 3 / UP 32

SALFORD 115 / DOWN 2 / UP 50

STOCKPORT 112 / UP 10 / UP 54

TAMESIDE 44 / DOWN 7 / UP 26

TRAFFORD 66 / UP 10 / UP 20

WIGAN 97 / UP 8 / UP 54

Apart from a pretty poor day for Manchester with biggest rise both day to day and week to week the rest despite the huge UK rise fairly stable.

Bury back way up and Wigan just stayed below 100.

But Tamesde was best at 44.

Having had the vaccine means you will be less ill but it doesn't preclude you passing it on to others.
